I attended my 6-monthly appt with a diabetes consultant this afternoon. I hadn't saw her before. She prescibed Victoza (which I've never heard of) that's supposed to be similar to Byetta (which I've heard of but dunno much about). It's relatively new to UK, and hasn't been approved by FDA in America due to causing thyroid cancer in rats.
Apparently it's something you inject once daily but it's not insulin and you still take your Metformin. Supposedly helps you lose weight, most probably due to nausea which is a side effect lol. I'm to start it next Mon after a pep talk from the nurse.
Anyone else here on it? And what do you think?
