Just had some great news!

scooterchick

She's me in a few months
As some of you may know I have PCOS and insulin resistance, when my weight was at it's highest 17st 13, my cycles were erratic, sometimes I wasn't ovulating and if I did it was so late in the cycle for the egg to be viable, lost a little weight, went on metformin and finally started ovulating normally. Next problem, my progestorone levels were too low to support a pregnancy, so everytime we managed to concieve it ended in miscarriage within a couple of days of getting a positive test. So on with cambridge and a little more weight off. So I had a progestrone test done last week, my temps were really high and I suspected that was down to good levels of prog, got the results this morning and they confirmed that I'm now producing enough prog to support a pregnancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy, I'm obviously under the danger weight where my hormones to to pot, now to decide do we continue trying for a baby knowing it could happen anytime, or put it off for a couple of months and let me get another couple of stone off? I'm also on a contract at my work and would like to secure permanent employment before getting pg. Oh decisions, decisions! At least now I know everything is working as it should be, yeeha!

Thats great news, Im really happy for you!
I have been there, so I totally understand where you are coming from I too have PCOS and had many years of ttc...
I really hope your dreams come true very soon and have everything crossed for you.

That's great, I was scanned for pcos on Friday, but the scan didn't show any signs of pcos, have got to have blood tests 7 days before my next period is due mmmm bit hard to pin it down so am going to have to take pot luck with a date I pick after my holidays.

Hi Mrs taurus

Was it an external or internal scan? My first scan was external and showed nothing, then I had an internal scan and it clearly showed lots of little cysts on my ovary (they could only see one). However cysts on the ovary is inconclusive as far as PCOS goes. The blood test you'll be having will be the same one I've just had the results for, it's a progestorone day 21 test, suppose to be 7 days after ovualtion which for a lost women will be 7 days before their expected period but for women with erractic cycles it's pretty hopeless. I know exactly when I ov as I take my basal body temperature every day and when I see a thermal shift (that it an increase in temp 3 days in a row) I know I've ovulated. Ovualtion occurs the day before your temp goes up. For me this cycle it was day 18 so I did my day 21 test on day 25 (see what I did there? :D).

If you have any questions about it please feel free to pm me, is it your normal GP who's wanting the tests done? IN my experience GP's don't know a whole lot about it, it took me 8 months, a whole load of internet print outs and an insistance to be referred to a fertility specialist that finally got me my diagnosis.

So if they say you haven't got it but you still feel you have, keep pushing, get all your bllod test results and google them, find out the normal ranges and see where you are in the specturm. All my bllod test results were in the normal range individually but didn't sit together, plus they weren't normal for me! My testostorone was in the normal range but was too high for me, iyswim.

Good luck!

Thanks scchk, that really useful! My gp recommended internal to be fair, but I was happier going for external. Will google bloodtest results when get them many thanks!
Have been tested before, and successfully went on to have master t without the problems I had anticipated. However in every other way I am text book pcos,I have always had mad periods and every range of period problem going! I was happiest on diannette, then developed focal migraines so can no longer take it,luckily my 10 year severe back acne didn't return.
After reading your post will pluck up the courage for an internal scan if the results bring me no joy,it'll be 24years of dodgy periods in March and am determined to get to the bottom of it this year_(no pun intended).
Thanks so much,I really appreciate this advice. x
