Last night I bought and read Kate Harrison's 5:2 diet book and think I'll give this a go. I'm sick of swinging from plan to plan, high carb low- fat to low- carb high fat- etc etc. in fact I'm bored of thinking about food full stop. Just want to get on with life. Two days fasting a week sound manageable.
I do think we women (and men) have it rough these days. The pressure on us to look thinner and younger has never been greater- pressures of work/life balance and finances have never been greater. The nation has a fascination with food matched only by its fascination with the horrors of obesity and everywhere we look there are medical people, often all highly qualified who have different ideas about how the body works and what type of food we should be eating. Breakfast is most important meal of the day. You don't need breakfast. Eat little and often. Eat once a day. Restrict your carbs. Eat four portions of carbohydrates daily. Don't eat dairy. Eat dairy or you'll get osteoporosis. Eat low fat spread. Low fat food is often high sugar/trans fat.
Aaaaargh! Enough!
Am hoping this simple adjustment of two fast days will take my thoughts away from constantly worrying about food types and regimes. My life's too busy- I'm fed up of being stressed about whether I should trim the fat off bacon or skip the toast or feel guilty about having a cake with a friend or a meal with my family and having to 'confess' at weigh in. Guilty for gods sake- I haven't killed anyone!
Sorry for rant. And breathe.......
Good luck everyone else, will let you all know how I get on
