Katycakes Won't Give Up...

Mine play the piano as well! Loved Notting Hill, what's tonight? 4 Weddings? Or shall you have a Jane Austen evening as it's a girls night in? Sounds good and cosy. xx

Hi KC,

Oh good, something else I can blame on my mother (my sweet tooth). lol

Actually she was very controlling about food, esp. sweets and do do think that made use sweets as a comfort, reward, etc. when I could control my own food. (She had very bad teeth and wanted to spare us dental problems and went overboard.)

Well done on 12st!! You'll be in the 11s in no time :).

Sounds like you and DD have had a lovely chilled out weekend!

I'll look out for you in London next week!

DAY 47

Ha. Scales today say 12st 2. !!!!???

'Oh well!' I thought yesterday was a bit too good to be true, but on the other hand am NOT going to re-adjust my ticker - I saw that 12st yesterday so I trust it will be back before long! Having had a gain earlier on in this journey, I am not going to panic about this... I suspect totm may be a factor, but whatever it is it won't be forever... yesterday & day before I was 100%, no cheats and no extra pack, so all will smooth itself out in good time.

DD is working 9-3 today at a local hotel, she also has the start of a cold so feel a bit sorry for her. The cash is welcome as she's saving for her exchange trip to US in April, but they ask a lot of her and I think she needs to cut her hours a little until after exams. Still, it'll be a good stretch of quiet for me to get some work done.

Dropping her off in a minute and then fitting in an early dog walk.

@ Alli, if you spot a madwoman rushing thru Euston on Tues & Weds, Beck book under her arm, that is me... lol!

Happy Sunday everyone...

Just catching up with the last 24 hours or so and thrilled to see you got back to 12 stones KC. The 2lbs today though cannot be anything other than retained water due to totm. You have been 100% so that will be gone in the next day or so.

Great that you are back in the zone. Very reassuring for me.

Enjoy exploring the Uni and city and also hope you have a fab time in London. So near yet so far :(

Catch ya later hon xx

Hey! Katy, the 2 pounds is just fluctation, so don't focus on that, just keep drinking your water and sticking to you shakes! You're doing it, you are back on board!

I've always been a daily weigher on CD and usually scales go down each days, few ounces if not a pound but some days they do go up even when I've been 100% in the past. Have a lovely and 'easy' Sunday!

Hi KC,

You sound like you are in a good place. I hope you find some time to enjoy London... what a looooong trip that must be for you. I find the hour ride from my nearest station long enough!

It took my DH 6 plus hours from Glasgow (on the express train) last spring when his flight got cancelled due to the ash cloud. Then, he had to run from Euston to Kings Cross to catch the last train back up to Huntingdon! And, his car was parked at Stanstead -- so we had to get up and pick it up the next morning! lol

What fun!

MM

Yep, it's about six hours from here too, with an hours car journey (or 2 buses, on Tuesday... ugh...) and a change of station at Carlisle. Sigh. Gonna be wiped out by Wednesday evening. I am always very controlled with food on away trips, but that long journey back often gets me... chips or a muffin at Carlisle on way home have been my downfall in the past!

Tues evening is a dinner meeting too, so must navigate that one with care. Gulp.

Hi KC --

You'll be fine. Pack some extra "good choices" with you. Nuts, protein bars, etc. I always have a SB bar or two in my bag.

On Tuesday I will be in our office overlooking the Euston forecourt - will keep an eye out for that bright pink book :D

Enjoy your trip!

Katy, I feel for you having a dinner meeting on Tuesday but you should be ok. Everyone else will be too busy eating and drinking wine no doubt? They won't notice you aren't.......use the usual excuses, slightly iffy tummy etc in the past I've found it has worked for me, then of course changing the subject! I do feel for you, sounds like a heavy few days ahead especially with the travel.

I know... the irony is, I know it is meant to be a treat for me, and it really isn't! But it's also a treat for them, so i have to go with it... I will swerve the wine and that'll be fine, I don't always drink at things like that & they will understand as I have stuff to do the next day and will need a clear head (haha). Avoiding the carbs will be the big challenge, as I have no idea where we are going. An avoiding the pudding is a must, I don't want to get into binge territory again.

Sigh!

Aw Katy, I'm sure you will be fine. Perhaps Beck would be a good handbag addition for the journey. Having a handy list of excuses at the ready too for why you are avoiding certain things. I'll be thinking of you and rooting for you...as always. xxx

You will Katy, be fine I mean. I always find when I'm away from home and with people, out or not I make good choices because I refuse the 'baddies' and choose the 'goodies'. Once you have ordered what you are going to eat (goodies) that's it. No one is going to press 'baddies' on you. And if you are offered them, one 'no thankyou' is enough, well that's what I find anyway. Binging is much more of a problem for me when I'm on my own, especially at home.
Have a good time, it'll be great. xxx

You're right Bess, I think it will be fine. It doesn't really scare me, and I do make good choices when 'in public' - it's the choices I make when alone that sometimes cause havoc. The Carlisle station 'slump' is a longtime danger zone, but as Mel says I will take a CD bar and have a black coffee if I do need something.

Chels, maybe the Beck book would come in handy for swatting Fred/Dick when he next rears his ugly little head!

Good idea! I find when I'm in the Carlisle slump situation (which I often am - loo/coffee stops at work), I fancy something 'bad', but order something 'good' or nothing at all. Works in petrol stations as well I find........mostly..The bar would be a good back up though.xxx

You'll be fine KC - Have an extra bar with you as back up if you get cravings. I know I struggle on the train as it's the perfect time to munch on food. When I was doing CD I always brought an extra bar and it really helped that I could have that and still stick with the diet (even if I went off plan). Also, what I tend to do is give myself a time of when I can next eat. Say I get on the train at 8am and I have had breakfast, I'd tell myself I can have something at 10am. That way for 2 hours I don't have to think about it because my next meal is at 10am. Then at 10am if I'm hungry I eat something, if I'm not I give myself a new time and so on. I got this trick from some book and it works well in the evenings as well. Right now I've said I can have something at 9pm if I really want to. Will see how I feel.

Enjoy your trip - don't stress about the food. You will do great, and it's the perfect time to strengthen your resistance muscle!! ;)

Thanks all...

DAY 48

Scales, 12st 2. Sigh. Pretty sure it's totm, my cycles are all over the place on CD. Wish it would hurry up!

Porridge eaten, have to go fetch OH from station later, otherwise a quiet day... outside dull but dry, nothing much to report.
