Katycakes Won't Give Up...

Yep, I don't want to go too far - I used to be 9st 7 till my mid 20s, but that would a/ not be possible, even getting to 10st something seems unlikely at this point; b/ would make me look like a hag. I would quite like to find the balance in between arse and face!

Well... WOO HOOOO!!!!

My brother was coming down this evening to stay with Mum till Sunday... at 8.30 a car drew up and there he was, dropping off DS!!! DS is at uni in the city near where my bro lives, and had decided to hitch a lift home for the weekend as a surprise. So DS is curled up on sofa watching a music prog with us, looking unshaven and lovely with birds nest hair... and I am happy, happy, happy. (And so is mum, because she has her DS home as well!)

DAY 53

Scales 12st 1 (!!!?!!!) Oh well...

Getting to the stage where I can accept the ups and downs without feeling too panicked, I expect I earned the gain from earlier in the week, and totm is still not here so water could be a factor too. I stayed on track yesterday, which I was very glad about, except for one extra pack in the evening... again, I accept that I had that, it was better than reaching for something off plan and hardly likely to have made me gain a lb so I just need to keep plodding and trust that the 11s will appear one day. Hopefully this millenium!

DD was at a party last night & is now curled up with her friend eating bagels & cream cheese and watching kids TV, while DS has yet to arise from his pit. I have done all his washing for him in the meantime, and will take him shopping later, as he will get a lift back to halls, so can load him up with some food shopping to keep him going for a while!

Might be seeing some friends later too, so all shaping up well. I had a lie in and read a book this morning, BLISS after the mad work-blitz of last few months.

Sunshine here, which is making me smile... it's beginning to feel like spring!

Hey hun ive found you yipeeeee. How you doing sweetie xxxxxx

Katy what a nice surprise to have your DS home for the weekend. My DD is away at uni and I won't see her until Easter which seems a long way off.

Hi KC,

What a banner week you've had (trip to London, finishing your project, and a surprise visit from DS) -- and now you have SUN!

Not really very sunny here -- but I did get up and go to the RC Zumba class. So, I feel that I will give myself "credit" for that. ;) I am about to read through Chapter 4 Beck (credit), and read my ARCs (again).

I hope your weekend continues to go well. (And Beck would tell you to not worry about the little fluctuations and keep doing what you know works.)

sun? sun? where is this sun???? all i have is black clouds and rain does the weather not understand im going out tonight and frizzy hair is NOT a good look lol lol xxx

Ooooh you have sun and son..... good for you. Must admit no sun here today, in fact it has been peeing it down all day, took a trip to Tesco for some cleaning stuff as I had run out, plus some washing up liquid but forgot the washing up liquid... doh!! Will have to go back once son has gone off to spend the night in a Secret Nuclear Bunker at Kelvedon Hatch with the Scouts.... guess it isn't very secret as we all know about it!!! ha ha

Anyway after reading my diary yesterday I also bought some prawns, quorn and cottage cheese in Tesco along with some mushrooms and courgettes and babyleafs and intend to try and follow some of my old menu's, will give my body a bit of a shake up too..... hope you are having a great time with all your family around you xx

Aw, thank you Dione, Trisha, Shanny, Jess, Mel & Greeneyes! We have friends coming over later for a curry, so hoping I can resist... haven't seen them for ages so making something for me that looks like a side-dish might be the way to go, looking forward to it!

Hope you are all having a fab day!

Sound so familiar..... :D xx

Lovely surprise though, your son coming home!

I think your attitude is great, this is what we all need, not beating ourselves up, it really doesn't help does it? After all we've been through I think that 'slow and steady wins the race' for good now.

Have a great rest of the weekend, family and friends all together - just the way I like it as well! xxx

Hi KC, so glad you have had the son and sun for the weekend. It has persisently rained here all day. Will it ever stop???

I am sure when your totm arrives you will probably drop 3lbs at least and glad that you are not worrying too much about it. It'll be fine :D

What a fab mum you are, washing, shopping, taxi-ing, cooking while they fester in their pits........oh to be young again... I remember festering in bed.........not!! My mum would have us up at the crack of dawn, during holidays, weekends, whatever, doing housework. Walking miles to the launderette.......that was a job I detested.

Have a lovely evening xx

Ya reckon????? Trip to launderette every Sunday morning was a 1.5 mile trek to the nearest town, for me and little sis, carrying a large pillowcase each full of washing, waiting for a machine to become free, putting washing in, waiting for what seemed an age for it to finish cycle, waiting for a dryer to become free, loading washing in and carrying heavy damp washing home in aforementioned pillow cases. We used to spend some of the drying money on sweets, which was very naughty, consequently the weight of the washing was three fold on the trek home. I was about 10 at the time and little sis about 7. Can you imagine kids having to do that nowadays??? :D:D

(Sorry for the hijack, KC!)

LOL Chels,

A few years ago my DS made the grave error of complaining about the way I did his laundry (apparently I accidentally put a T-shirt in the dryer and might have shrank a tiny bit and was now only too big, not too giagantic on the stick insect -- a shirt I bought BTW).

Well, we live about one mile from the Air Force base and there is a launderette on it. I made him put his clothes in a black trash bag and carry them back and forth (on foot, on a busy road and where everyone saw him doing this... in winter!). He had to pay for it and the detergent, too.

It was interesting how he ended up putting EVERYTHING in the dryers because it was too much to carry the wet clothes back.

He did this for about two to three months... until soccer season started and he really did not have the time to do it.

Needless to say, every time I do I his wash... he not only does not complain, he sincerely thanks me. Lesson learned.

I am a bit of a local hero to the other moms who saw him doing this and asked what was going on... they were impressed that not only did I give him this"sentence", but I stuck to it. lol

I was asked why didn't I just let him use the washer and dryer in the house to do his own wash... and I said, "Because I am not going to risk having him misuse something I need. Besides he has a job, so he can pay to do his own wash. Why should we supply the machines, soap, electricity and water, when he obviously does not appreciate even that, much less our time and energy?"

In reply to Chels message 2 up.

No probably not, but that's probably because we have all been conditioned to think there's a pervert behind every lampost.

My children have always had their own chores to do, at 3 they were emptying the dishwasher and at 5 fetching coal and logs in. Washing up, bringing in the washing, emptying the airing cupboard, feeding animals and shutting up the hens have been routine jobs they have always done. They just help with whatever needs doing. My 8 year old was changing nappies for the new baby, while we were renovating a condemned house! And the 6 year old was carrying her new baby sister around and 'jiggling' her to keep her happy while we worked. Quick, call Childline! But you know? They all think they had an amazingly happy childhood and are well balanced, decent, caring, young women. Albeit worn down by hard work and all with housemaid's knees perhaps.....

Course, Katy's children were sent out barefoot to harvest the haggis plants, milk the whisky cows and round up the bagpipe birds.........poor little blighters!
