I've come suuuuuuuch a long way, from being top end of morbidly obese (19st) to being in the overweight category (11st something!) and now I think I'm at the make or break point!

Never in my life did I binge even when I was huuuuuuuuge, now I keep binging every now and again and I'm sooooo scared that this is the point where I'm going to put it all back on... but I can't help myself!!

Is anyone else in a similar situation???

Is anyone doing a diet where they've found they're not tempted to binge???

How do people stop themselves from binging???

Any advice, or to hear anyone in a similar situation would be reeeeeeeally appreciated :)

I find I binge if I really really crave something and stop myself from having it for a long time, so instead, the first time I think I wanna eat it... I stop myself, then if an hour later Im still wanting it, I will have a tiny amount of it. Say if its chocolate, I will have one square from a bar and eat it really slowly.

Hi Lozzy!

Firstly, congratulations on your achievement so far! You've done amazingly well, so def don't throw it all away with stupid binges. I know thats much easier to say than do, esp. as I'm also a terrible binger, tho (touch wood) am slowly improving....

The things I try and do when I get the urge to binge are

- Go for a 10-15min walk. I tell myself that when I get back I will eat whatever it is that I'm craving, and sometimes find that when I get back I no longer crave it as much. Altho doesn't always work unfortunately :-(

- Phone a friend, again its a distraction I guess. And its harder to binge when you're chatting on the phone.

- This is probably not the best advice, as it doesn't tackle the problem (ie binging) but is better than nothing - i tell myself that I will give in to the urge to binge, but with something that is healthy. So for example I will cook a massive plate of pasta (which is a 'free' food on the diet I'm on) or have a huge bowl of fruit salad with fat free yogurt. I find that I don't eat as much as if I was stuffing myself with crisps and chocs, and don't feel so guilty. For me, I think the whole guilt thing is a big part of the problem. I just get into these cycles whereI binge, feel very bad and like a complete greedy failure, which then leads to more comfort eating.

Anyway, best of luck! When you're feeling down or get the urge to binge just look back over how far you've come, and enjoy the feeling of achievement - you can do it, as you've already proved so!

First of all a great big well done to you for what you've achieved so far, you've done fantastically well.

I have just bought a juicer so when I get the urge to binge I go and make a juice or smoothie as they are so filling I can't face eating anything else after I've had it.

The other thing I do is I start cleaning the house or tidying up which takes my mind off the fact that I think I want to binge or eat something.

Keep in mind how far you've come and how well you've done, you're an inspiration.

X

You have done excellently, you can do it. When I'm craving something atm I eat a huge bowl of vegetables...not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but they fill you up quickly. Sometimes when you feel hungry you are craving some sort of vitamin or mineral and your body doesn't get it from an unhealthy snack so you continue to feel hungry which leads to the binge. Hope you can get through this difficult time of your diet. It will be worth it in the end. x

Heyy Emmster!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to me :)

That's all such good advice! Especially the last one! I'm definitely going to try it out! If I feel the need to binge I'll just stuff my self silly with relatively healthy things, then I guess that kind of limits the damage right? :p

Thankyou again :) You've been a MASSIVE help!! :) x

Lozzy, how you doing hun?
Hi 86alpzzyj :)

I always love hearing from you :)

Honestly? Really not too well at all...

I'm getting my head around it all a bit more and understanding why I do it, how I feel when I do it etc etc, but the amount of times it happens has not decreased...

I've found out why I do it though and why I've struggled so much over the past few months with my weight loss... It's whenever I'm not in a day to day routine (I've had a very up and down summer and not had a routine going for months) and I have to do something that I can't control or haven't planned... it's especially when I've socialised. So I'm going to try and teach myself to handle things differently rather than reaching for food when I do something out of routine...

Luckily I weighed myself the other day for the first time in a long while, I was expecting to be upto 12st after all of this bad eating, but I was a surprisingly nice 11st 4lbs, so that is kind of keeping me on a little high to keep going :)

I'm thinking of starting another diary on here though to keep me motivated and see if that works :) But I was like you and found it all a little too pressurising having to keep a diary... (I still write my own food diary down everyday anyways)... do you feel happier now you're not keeping a diary??

Anyways, enough of my rambling :p Just wanted to say thankyou again and I really hope everything's still going brilliantly for you?? :) I'm sure it is!! xx

Hiya Lozzy Gozzy

I'm exactly the same, sometimes I can't even concerntrate because the urge for a binge is overwhelming. Grrrrrr.

Try and remember how far you have come and if you have a bad day dont get to disheartened by it. Just make sure it's a bad day and not a bad week.

If I feel like binging I try to eat something healthy to try and take the feeling away. If I end up eating more then I should I just make sure I'm extra good the next few days. Its so hard though.

Keep at it hunny xxxxxx

i symphatise with everybody. i am so greedy and hate myself[hence why all my posts are so negative] ...everyday i vow to be lose weight..every day cravings for junk food get the better of me

i found cutting out junk for a few months and losing two stone[which left me at bmi of 19.2] then triggered bingeing and bulimia when i started eating and re introduced junk 7 years ago. my weight shot up to a bmi..i had therapy and went off medication i was on for my personality disorder...i lost a stone and a half easitly but never lost anymore but am still overweight and hate myself [by going off the mdication] for my failure , not being able to diet when everyone else seem to be able to stick to diets

Hi Stupid (not that i'm calling you stupid mind hehe)

Ive been there before. Its an awful cycle. I still strugle with binge/purge cycles every now and then as I have a histror of bulemia, but I dont let it rule my life anymore. The fear is always there though that it will come back.

Try and remain positive and if it any consillation, you are not big at all. You only have a few pounds to lose really compared to some of us on here so thats a plus side :)

Its sad to hear you hate yourself. I know how it feels though. But just remember, they are just your feelings and no one elses. I bet everyone around you loves you.

Heres a big squeexy hug from me xoxoxoxoxox

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! POWER ON THROUGH xx

i just can't seem to help but hate myself. i guess i just feel big..most of all my bmi may not seem super high but its enought to possibly affect my liver and even knowing that is not giving me the willpower to lose the weight

thanks so much for your reply
