LLL Day 1!

Hi everyone,
I am completely new to LL and today is my first day! I plan to keep a diary to help both myself, and hopefully others on a similar journey! I've found it really useful & inspiring to read through some of the diaries on here already... especially as I am a little apprehensive and really worried about hunger and my motivation to stick to the plan!

So a bit about me, I'm 28 and currently weigh the most I ever have. For 10 years I have been a health and fitness freak, usually managing to maintain my weight, fluctuating up/down by 7-10lb. I have never allowed myself to get to this stage of sheer desperation. I feel so uncomfortable in my own body and skin. I cannot bear to look at myself in the mirror, only when I have to do my make-up and hair! I guess many of us have been there!
Having been unwell from Dec 2010 to March 2011 my motivation plumeted the more weight I gained. Its completely taken over my life to the point I will not go out with friends.
I am recovering well from being unwell and am now ready to tackle this and lose weight.
It's not going to be easy but I know I can do it.

I have a few concerns, mainly about being hungry as I have been overeating for months and my body has got used to the vast amount of food consumption!

Having always been into my fitness, it is (usually!) a big part of my life and whilst I have not been well enough to maintain my high levels of fitness, I am keen to resume my exercise routine but am worried that this is not going to be possible with the significant reduction in calories.

As I am on LLL I am worried about eating the one meal a day, on top of 3 foodpacks. Where I have lacked any form of control over my eating habits, I am worried that this will continue and that when it comes to preparing/eating that one proper meal a day, I will have too much or be lead into temptation!

I am going to my first group session this evening which I am looking forward to as no doubt my mind will be at ease once I have met with the group and counsellor.

So day one and so far I have cycled to work (4 miles each way) and I had porridge FP for breakfast at 9am, Vanilla shake (yum) for lunch at 12pm.

I plan my next shake 3pm, or 4pm if I can hold out.

I've had 3 copus of green tea and 2L of water (I dont drink tea/coffee, and usually live of lots of water and green tea so no worries on the water front!)

Any words of advice, tips or help anyone can offer is very welcome :D

Here's wishing me luck on my LLL journey, I really hope I can do this!!!

Hi there, I have my first meeting tonight too but started on LLL last Tuesday, I have a similar background to you, used to being fit although diet has always been up and down, when I am good I am very very good but when I am bad I am horrid!
Hoping counselling will help address some of my food issues as I tend to start bingeing & it gets to the point where I do not enjoy food at all, even though I am continually shovelling it down!
I feel so unhappy with my weight just now & just want to be able to where my clothes again!
I have found it useful to plan my food meals a week in advance shop for the items I intend to cook & stick to my menu plan so I know exactly what meal I will be having, my problem is I think I am eating too much vegetable & salad but guess I will manage to reduce the amount as I go on.
I am eating a foodpack at lunch, a foodpack about teatime & having my meal when I get home about 9ish, keep the bar for after dinner or like yesterday just ate it earlier cause I was hungry.
Good luck! Em x

Snap… when I am good I am good to the extreme (hence why I’m worried about eating my daily meal!) and when I’m bad I am so bad, it actually disgusts me to think of the [email protected] I’ve put in my body since Xmas and like you say, for no reason, many times I wasn’t even enjoying the food but just eating rubbish and lots of it for the sake of it! Crazy really!
I have just had my third food pack of a banana shake and it was delicious. I think I am going to have one of my protein shakes tonight as I haven’t got anything in. I will speak to my LLC tonight when I meet her about my concerns re the daily meal.
I am very unhappy with my body right now and just really hope I can stick to this and lose weight!
I need to get through the first week at least, to prove to myself that I can do it and that it is worthiwhile!
Thanks for your message and good luck too…you must feel great having got through almost a whole week! Have you found it challenging?

Best of luck for your first week. Don't worry about feeling hungry, as soon as you go into ketosis the hunger will disappear (usually after 2-4 days). Then the only hunger you may feel will be psychological. x

Hey, thanks for your replies and words of encouragement. Not long got back from my first group session and there were only 3 of us. The group session was really good and its just so comforting to know I am not alone and also good to hear the same thing re: hunger, that it will fade after 2-4 days! So getting through the next couple of days will probably be the toughest challenge!

So I survived day one...woohoo! Its was actually really nice to go to bed not feeling stuffed to the brim with food, and also waking up no bloated... that's an incentive in itself, if I feel like this after one day, I should feel amazing after a week!!!

So my concerns over having a proper meal were put to rest at my group session and after sticking to my food packs during the day, there was no way I was going to put my hard work to waste and overeat...I cooked a small portion of pork with a salad and given that I hadnt had proper food all day, I really enjoyed it and noticed the flavours...it tasted good!

So day two...so far I have had a peppermint tea. I will have porridge FP at 9am, then at 12noon I'm going to try either spicy curry or thai chilli (I think those are the flavours?!) and then a vanilla shake at 3pm, followed by small turkey breast with salad at 6pm.

I drank lots of water yesterday which I'm used to doing anyway so this wasn't too difficult. I had a headache through the night and slight one now so hoping that goes soon.

Osanago - how did your first WI go last night?

Hi PB, didn't find first week too bad but scales were a disappointment, only lost a pound & the counsellor sent me straight to the loo to pee on a stick! She says I am in ketosis but dehydrated, on TOTM also so am trying to be optimistic for next week weigh in. Was up at the loo 5 times last night so am hoping that has sorted the water retention out, ha, ha! I am just starting to not feel hungry now & am actually drinking water non-stop cause I feel thirsty which is good! Good luck!!! Em x
