Losing weight with PCOS, planning a wedding and TTC!

Hi,

Although I joined over 2 years ago, this is the first time I am actually using this forum, rather than reading the odd couple of posts. I'm hoping to gain as much support from here as possible. You see I have a lot of weight to lose (4-5 stone!!), and have at least 2 incredibly good reasons to do it!

I am getting married in June 2013, and my partner and I are currently trying for a baby. I know, I know. Madness you say - you should leave that until after the wedding. But we have been trying since July 2011 (fiancee proposed xmas day 2011) - I have confirmed PCOS and we don't want to leave it too late incase I have issues/need help. So for now we have agreed to plan a wedding, keep TTC and see how it goes! :)

I thought I'd keep an online diary on here, and hopefully get to know some others in my position (well, at least one or two of the aspects). We haven't told family and friends that we are TTC, incase it takes a long time (don't want people, esp parents and mother in law, asking about my cycle etc all the time!), so I don't really have anyone to talk to about this stuff. Just my partner, but I don't want to talk to him about it all of the time and cast a cloud over our relationship!

It would also be great to share wedding tips with people - we want a nice wedding but we dont want it to cost a fortune - we'd rather spend our money on a house (so when baby does come he has got more than a bottom drawer to sleep in!).

I think I need as much support as possible on the weight loss front as well - I have been trying to lose weight, on and off, for at least 2.5yrs now. I do ok for a while, then it all stops for whatever reason (get bored of diet, stress at work, chrismas etc) , and its not long before I am putting on weight again!

Tomorrow I start on Rosemary Conley (plan from her magazine that I bought on Thursday) and will be getting back to the gym!!

xXx

Hi! Im 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS about 6months ago.
I am not thinking about having children yet, so I have no idea if I have fertility problems, but I know I dont want it ruled out for me! My aunty also has PCOS, and so from her I have advice for TTC. After trying to have a baby for 10years, my aunty was ready to try anything and so she went to a homeopath who specialised in female health and was recommended to her. This doctor prescribed her Natural 3%Projesterone Cream called Projuven, which boosted her projesterone hormones without having to take a contraceptive pill. My aunty then became pregnant a couple of months later and now has a perfect, healthy son. Its quite expensive because you have to get it on private prescription and pay for it yourself but it would mabye give you a help ttc.
Good luck with ttc and your weight loss for your wedding!

Hey, how r u getting on with the Rosemary Conley diet? This is one i have never tried- what is it like?
I got married last year and same as you wanted 2 do it as cheaply as poss - you can get some good bargains off ebay! I got my invites, table plan, guest book, post box 4 cards, thank you cards etc etc off ther really cheaply! They wer all lovely 2 - really nice quality! Just make sure u check the sellers feedback before u buy owt. Have u got a colour scheme in mind yet? For table centrepieces we made our own up but when we totted it all up we could have got sum1 2 do them 4 us 4 around about the same price n wouldnt have had the hassle of setting them all up!
We too are trying for a baby - i was diagnosed with pcos around 4-5 years ago- we were having treatment at the hospital prior to our wedding - i took 3 courses of clomid - didnt agree with me much- EXTREMELY hormonal! Lol. So am just trying 2 get down 2 healthy bmi at the mo and see if can drop on naturally to avoid ne more of the Clomid pain! Lol. Have just started doing slimming world but finding it hard 2 resist all the stodgy food esp in this cold weather! Brrr! Xx
