Hey KW,
Good luck with the surgery, my sister had grommets inserted in both her ears when she was about 3 yrs old and has been fine ever since (she's 22 now!). Docs thought my daughter might need them when she was 2 1/2 yrs old coz she kept getting fluid build up in her ears and infections but we saw a specialist who was able to devise a long term (over 6m) treatment plan with anti biotics etc and she's also been fine ever since (it's been about 18m)!!
