Morning ML, loving the food as usual. Almond cakes my favourite - luckily DH eating regular ones at the moment and not baking as they can lead you astray pretty fast;)
Xx

Cream with chocolate mint davinci tasted wonderful. Sadly am not a fan of the praline variety I bought but might find a use for it jn something. I had white chocolate some time ago and ended up pouring it away as I didn't like it.

Incidentally the walden farm products I tried were universally gross.

Anyway I'm all sweeted out for now. I just want savory savory savory and salty.

Was just looking at the back of one of my medicine packs:

Also includes sorbitol, isomalt, sucrose, aspartame and soya bean oil.

They're part of the reason my meds add an extra 11g carbs per day. Unfortunately an unavoidable one.

Mmmm chocolate mint sounds lovely!

I've got orange, which would make nice ice cream - and for some reason I bought egg nog, and still haven't opened it :)

Agree re the Walden Farm stuff, horrible - I had the pasta sauce and peanut butter, both of which were vile.

Agree - avoid all walden farm stuff. Hate the salad dressings and got sent the ketchup instead of the heinz once - tasted it, had to wash my mouth out and threw the rest away!

Bummer on the meds ingredients ML - but you are really focused so stick with it:)

Yes, walden farms = totally vom.

For the most part I am very happy with my preema flavourings from amazon & a couple of dissolved sweetener tablets to use when I made a dessert. I was just bored and obviously thought it would be clever to waste my money on fancier looking packaged versions.

Food today:

Celery with
Primula roasted garlic dip
30g salami Napoli

home made cauli cheese

Pork belly
Spring onions

Mug of alpro

Mfp: 30g carbs Inc meds

I wish * week would hurry up and start. It's overdue and now I'm getting spotting but nothing more. Frustrating as I've been pmsing like an angry, acne covered bear for a week now.

hi, i dont follow low carb but bought some of the products you talk about here and agree they are pretty vile. i had walden farms peanut butter whip, carmel sauce, pancake syrup and chocolate syrup, never again. i also had davinci surups : cookie dough and butter scotch, both went down the sink, the only thing i liked was malitol based maple syrup, that is lovely but unfortunatley not calorie or carb free xxx

Yes, I wouldn't touch maltitol with a bargepole - I already knew it gave me a bad tummy, now I know it's processed as sugar and has a GI higher than orange juice! I tried walden farms because at the very least it doesn't use evil sugar alcohols, but I can make my own stuff at home far nicer than anything they've come up with.

ohhhh i wasnt aware if that! nasty stuff! i think i ate my weight in sugar free marshmellows ooops x

If you look on the main forum there's a post about sugar alcohols which links to an article which is pretty terrifying in terms of what they put in our food.

Almond bread!

This one isn't for induction as it contains nuts.

40g ground blanched almonds
1 large egg
1/2 tsp baking powder
Small pinch of salt (optional)

I do this in the bottom of a bowl but using a square container would give an easier slice.

Mix the dry ingredients in your container, making sure the almonds aren't clumpy. Add your egg and mix it in as smoothly as you can (I just use a fork).

Microwave on high for 1 min 30 secs

Turn bread over. If damp on bottom microwave another thirty secs.

Slice.

Eat.

Cals: 390
Carbs: 4g

I am telling you this stuff is amazing. So different to mims. The almond has such a mild flavour it doesn't come through at all - honestly I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between this and a loaf of supermarket gluten free bread.

It's denser than fluffy white bread texture wise but doesn't taste much different - and not eggy at all.

Obviously it has carbs, and is high cal for one roll considering you'll want to butter and fill it so you need to watch consumption and I don't know of baking powder stalls anyone.

I find it mega filling, too.

I used a small cereal bowl and it makes a decent sized roll.

Cut the crusts off to make a square and sliced down the middle. One slice was thin - so I toasted it and made cheese on toast (keep a close eye - it toasts fast) one slice was thickish, so I cut it in half again and made a finger sandwich and two marmite fingers.

The simplest thing ever. And so good.

I think the taste is best untoasted - toasting makes the almond taste come through more. Fortunately I love toasted almonds.

That almond bread sounds seriously great, by the way. Not to mention simple enough that even I (probably!) can't mess it up. I'll definitely be putting ground almonds on my shopping list for next week. :)

Great food porn pics there ML. That almond bread looks divine. Something anyone could take to work and not be grilled about 'what is that' :)
