Moonlights' (temporary) Maintenance

I'm seeing JC Superstar in Oct I think at Wembley!! Can't wait!!! Love and adore the musical and really interested to see Minchin!

I met Michael ages ago - was invited to see a show he was in - I knew the Head of Action Time who were making the show - I loved and adored him - not quite so stuck on him now but still think he's amazing cx

Loving the food porn!!! Xx

Evening ML - sorry to hear the sleep is so elusive. Hope the shows are as amazing as they sound:)
Xx

Morning ml hope unfit a decent amount of kip last night ! Report back on porridge flax ....made it yesterday morning like u said ....I really liked it....it's a bit slimy lol maybe I could if used more milk in it ....but really liked it and so quick for brekkie thanks ....your cupcakes sound delish we will hound u for the recipe lol xx

Glad you liked it! Mine doesn't come out slimy - or maybe I just haven't noticed if it does but it's filling and warming and a real comfort food to me now.

Cupcake recipe is already in this journal somewhere but will write it up again soon as I did these slightly differently, using alpro milk, and cooked them in the oven. It's not an induction recipe though, I'm afraid.

Oh ffft I'll write it quickly now:

50g almond flour
1 egg
Tsp baking powder
Few dashes alpro unsweetened soya
Sweetener of choice
Flavoring of choice

(I use hermestas liquid sweetener, banana flavoring and cinnamon)

Mix together almond, egg, sweetener, flavoring.
Add alpro to let down the mix to a loose consistency and spoon into cake cases.
Put in oven (fan 180 for me) for 15 minutes or until they feel firm but still springy.

If you're on induction I suspect you could make the same mix using flax - it is basically a mim - but the taste wouldn't be as close to normal fairy cakes.

I have also made these using cream and water mixed as a replacement for the alpro - and I've also cooked them by popping them in the microwave for 2 mins. If you look back through this journal you'll find pics of the microwave version - id almost say the micro version are lighter and more like fairy cakes while the over version are a bit denser and more muffiny.

Sweeney Todd yesterday was fantastic. I should put the proviso here that I'm not attracted to Michael as himself (would be awkward, he's known me since I was in a pram) but Sweeney was unexpectedly sexy for a serial killer! Imelda was knock it out of the park fantastic. Wasn't mad on the judge and Anthony and Johanna didn't quite do it for me - bit too wet. But I must have seen 10 versions of this show by now - one of my favorites - and this really was great. Just really elevated by its leads.

Di we should have co ordinated our theatre going obviously! You're a lady of excellent taste ;)

Food yesterday (out all day):

4 bana-not and cinnamon cupcakes

Burger without the bun

Tiger prawns, 30g cheddar cheese, mayo

Flax porridge

Mfp: 27g carbs (mostly from ketchup/onions on burger I think) including 11g from meds.

Thanks for the recipe, ML...duly noted!

I once suspected you of having shares in a courgette farm, but I'm beginning to think it's actually an almond plantation...;):D

So pleased you enjoyed the show ML... I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as I'm usually frightened of scary things - a real whooze but it was brilliant !!

And you're sounding very upbeat today ! I do hope that's the case xxx

Oh I just love Sweeney Todd - all Sondheim pretty much but especially that, Into The Woods and Sunday in the Park with George.

Sweeney uses a common theatrical technique whereby it makes you laugh at the shocks - at least more often than not. I don't know if you've ever seen Blood Brothers but there's a moment at the end where someone is shot and the audience laugh - its a very serious moment and it's not hearty laughter but a quick, surprised laugh. It's because laughter is the quickest release of tension - in public, where you can't scream. I noticed it coming into play a lot during Sweeney.

Yes, feeling brighter - finally slept last night!

And now I've bored everyone...

Food today:

3 veggie hot dogs and a bit of cheese

Fried Cauliflower rice with chicken, mushrooms, spring onions, 2 egg yolks, 5 spice powder, soya sauce

Flax porridge

Cocoa bark

Mfp: 26g carbs

Cauli rice was yum!

So do any of you photography types know how to take professionalish looking photos in a dingy, yellow lit kitchen? Doing it under a lamp or using flash just seems to make things look darker.

Hey Moonlight :) Excellent blog! I've read more of yours than anyone's, your meal ideas are such an inspiration..you always make me hungry though! I have a feeling that you're going to be expensive, I want to go and buy all these unusual ingredients all at once! Thanks once again for your advice and posting those lovely recipes xx I will avoid Dreamfields pasta from now on :-( Have you tried reading to help you sleep? As it tires your eyes (eventually) that always helped me.. B xx

i have made a note of the cupcake recipe on my computer along with others i think, oooo one day...

hope u sleep better tonight xx

Well. Well, I'm not sure how this happened but it was Friday weigh in this morning and I now weigh 12 stone 1lb.

12st 1lb!!

That's a loss of 5 1/2lb, my biggest weekly loss since week 1 induction. I think it must have been compensation for my recent painkiller induced stall.

Anyway I'm now I'm the 160's! 169lbs! That feels great.

I've also lost exactly 2 and a half stone in pretty much exactly 5 months, which would put me at the average half stone per month loss rate - except I've had 1 month, 1 week and 1 day off plan during that time, so really I guess I'm ahead of the curve.

I think I can also pretty safely say that my weekly trial of coconut oil and flax porridge hasn't had any negative effect.

I'm so so pleased, and so so close to not being obese anymore.

OH!!!! I'm also now at my lowest weight in my adult life. Last time I weighed 12 stone I must have been no older than 14 - maybe even younger.

A pretty gosh darn amazing day. Thank goodness for this diet.

Am sure I can expect a stall next week - we'll see how it goes.

WOW!! That's fantastic, ML! Deserves a few of these, I reckon:party0011::woohoo::wee: (I like smilies!:D)

You must have been losing fat in the background whilst your painkillers were masking it with water weight?

It just doesn't seem quite right to eat like we do and lose all this weight, does it?!

Thank goodness for Dr Atkins or we'd be eating rabbit food :p:D

I know right, miracle diet or what. And this week I've had porridge (made from flax), cupcakes (made from almonds) and chocolate (made from
coconut oil). Plus spaghetti (made from courgette) and chicken fried rice (made from cauliflower). And it's all tasted great. I can honestly say I haven't felt deprived or wistful for a second this week.

And I lost 5 and a half pounds!! I get to say that again here because for some reason my weigh ins ALWAYS end up at the bottom of the page.

Really am pleased, though I also have PMT so I'm both pleased and moody like a crazy horse.

I am. It's been pretty tough this summer and there have been times where I've really struggled more than I think I let on but I've stuck to it and this week has felt really good so it's nice to have a result to show for it after all the frustrations.

Food today:

Cream cheese pancakes

Marks and spencers tomato and basil sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, mushrooms, spring onions and pancetta all grilled together (crustless pizza)

Cheese and cucumber

Cocoa bark

Mfp: 25g carbs inc meds

Cream cheese pancakes:

1 egg
30g cream cheese
Sweetner
Flavoring or cinnamon if wanted.

Mix into a batter and cook as you would regular pancakes - they taste very similar. I wasn't mad on them though - if I make them again I might double the cream cheese and make thicker, American style versions.
