I am so fed up of starting diets, losing a couple of pounds and then quitting. Usually by the time i start again i have put the weight back on and more!

I have realised that the only thing holding me back from being 100% happy is my weight, it gets me down everyday. Every situation I am in, I compare myself to other people to the point where I put off going out with friends because I feel so fat next to them all. I just had a friends wedding and some people I hadn't seen since before uni and they didn't even recognise me. Enough is enough, if my happiness hinges on me losing weight I am going to do something about it!

I recently moved to a new area with my boyfriend after we both finished uni, at the moment we havent really met any new people. I feel like my weight is holding me back from going out and socialising more. I put off nights out with friends from home, because I am embarrassed by my weight.

I start work in september and am dreading having to go clothes shopping for work. I went to a few shops the other day and the only clothes i could find were size 22 older ladies clothes. All of the nice work clothes only go up to a size 20 which looks too tight on me. I have graduation at the end of September and I would like to be able to feel a bit more confident then.

I see everyone's success stories and I always think "I could never do that", well I have decided I will never know until I try. I have set my goal to lose 2 pounds a week eating 1500 calories.

Just to let everyone know my food diary today is:

Breakfast: small slice of brown bread, 1/4 tin of beans, 3 rashers of bacon with fat trimmed and 3 mushrooms - 400 calories
Snack: Light crisps: 100 calories
Lunch; pasta and sauce cooked in water with mushrooms and a slice of ham - 400 calories
snack: crisps - 100 calories

Dinner(planned)- shepherds pie - 500 calories

i know the crisps are bad but I have run out of fruit....... at least they are within my limit of 1500 haha

I am going down to Bristol for my friends birthday this weekend so am going to try and stick to plan as much as possible!

How are everyone elses days going?
xx

Hi everyone!

So back from my weekend away with a few naughty temptations... i had a sneaky weigh in and scales said 16st 7.5lb so showing a couple of pounds loss. yayyyy!
I did have some bad food but did a lot of walking so maybe it balanced out!

My plan for today is:

white egg omelette, with veg and a slice of toast - 300 calories
apple juice - 100 calories
ham and salad sandwich - 400 calories
pork, new potatoes and veg - 500 calories
muller light - 100
banana - 100

Hopefully i will feel full so will be able to stick to it. I am hoping if i drink lots of water then it will stop me wanting to graze!

I think i will go for a walk this evening as well!

How did everyone elses weekends go?

Hey ! Good Luck x keep us dated x i am starting fresh today x had a fun weekend eating rubbish and out & about x

Hey, well done on your weight loss so far, you are doing so well! I have a similar goal and goal date as you!

Hello, well done on losing a few lbs already! You are doing great :).

My weekend was a bit of a naughty one as out for sister's birthday but am right back on it! Good luck for the week ahead!

Thank you, well done on your weight loss! At least weighing in on a Friday gives me the week to make up for any naughty weekend treats haha!

Yesterday went ok, had about half a punnet of grapes and a small punnet on top of plan, but i did go for a brisk 1.5 mile walk in the evening.
Today has been good so far:
Breakfast: slice of french toast in frylight with mushrooms and orange juice - 300 calories
snack - healthy cake - 100 calories
lunch - rice and veg - 400 calories

For dinner i am planning on making spaghetti bolognaise from a slimming world recipe. I am going to count the calories as i make it but im guessing it will come out about 500/600 calories.

A lot of the food i cook at home usually follows a slimming world recipe, so im going to gradually start working out the calorie contents as they will be much less than the standard recipes and ready made sauces. I was bored yesterday so tried make a kind of healthyish cake to satisfy my sugar cravings, the ingredients were:

cup of flour
1 whole and and 1 egg white
2 mashed bananas
1/4 orange juice
1/4 cup skimmed milk
1/2 cup splenda

I mixes it all together and cooked for about half an hour in a loaf tin, tastes like banana loaf cake and is actually edible. I worked out the calories in the whole thing and then cut it up into 100 calorie potions, leaving me quite a few slices. It is tempting to eat them though, so i put half of them in my boyfriend lunch box today so I couldn't eat them all haha!

My boyfriend and I are planning to start the couch 2 5k running plan tonight, we have just found a really nice country park near our new house so it will give us something to do in the evenings.

I was just working out how long I have until graduation and it is roughly 6 weeks so im hoping I can be 15 stone by then, I know it is ambitious but I will only be a stone away from the weight I was when I first went to uni and met my boyfriend yayy!

How is everyone else getting on?

xxx

It's sometimes good to be ambitious - I find that way you sometimes work harder and even if you don't quite make the target at least you'll know you've tried your best :).

I'm currently about a stone away from the weight I was when I got together with my boyfriend (almost 5 years ago!!) and funnily enough that is my next mini-target!

I'm getting on ok so far this week but really need to up the exercise again. Had a lung infection and am just getting over it so no excuses now!xx

Hopefully that stone will fly by for both of us! We met four years ago and it would be nice to be back to how I was then, although I was chubby I felt confident and could wear so many more clothes.

I'm sure once you are over your lung infection you will have some great losses. It keeps starting to rain and then looking sunny so im debating whether to do the first session of the couch to 5 k tonight hmmm... maybe an easy sofa night is in order haha.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday went well, it was the first day that i have stuck 110% to 1500 calories. it feels so good I woke up this morning with a new enthusiasm for it, I want to make it another day at 100%...hopefully this frame of mind will help.

i made a slimming world lasagne for dinner,if anyone is looking for low calorie recipes it works out at 450 calories a portion. I used the free recipe from the slimming world recipe and it was really nice. We went for a walk last night, i only did about 1 mile because my new trainers gave me the worst blister ever, grrr!

Im thinking of emailing a few gyms around the area to see if any do a free trial week, if i can find a couple this should give me something to do until i start work. I am going a little bit crazy sitting at home all day haha.

Plan for today is
b- toast, weetabix and orange juice- 400 calories
l - ham sandwich - 400
d- maybe chicken curry - 500
evening snacks - yogurt and crisps - 200

It is so tempting to weigh myself again but im trying to resist. I am aiming for 16st6 this week, which will be a loss of 4 pounds ekkkk.

Good luck today everyone!

You seem to be really motivated which is good! I think you'll probs find a few gyms offering a free trial - the ones round my way are always giving out leaflets for free trials but as yet I've been too chicken to go hahaha.

Hey, I only found 2 gyms and one seems to be a mens body building one... dont think i will fit in there haha! But the other offers a free day pass so might use that closer to pay day, when I can afford to sign up. Me and my boyfriend found a lovely country park with walks mapped out, with the mileage signposted to help keep you motivated. I think we will go here in the evenings for something to do, I might attempt the first run in the couch to 5k at the park later.

I feel mad at myself we went shopping last night and I got tempted in the chocolate aisle... galaxy chocolate counters were on offer! Then i got tempted in the cake aisle by a strawberry and cream cake ahhhhh! I feel so mad at myself i ate half the chocolate and a slice of cake agghh. New plan is to not go shopping in the evening, which is when I am craving almost everything and anything! I reckon online shopping might be a good idea because then I will know whatever I order will not be here for a while so I wont be buying choc or crisps for the evening.

Anyway i felt really guilty this morning, so I threw the cake in the bin and put the rest of the chocolate in my boyfriends packed lunch haha! I had a sneaky weigh in and it was 16st6.5lb which is the lowest it has been for about 2 months, so hopefully the naughtiness wont catch up with me for official weigh in tomorrow.

I plan to be really good today and just have fruit for breakfast and lunch to make up for last night and then beef stew for dinner. I have just put everything for the stew in the slow cooker to cook for the rest of today. I have a sneaky plan that if i know my dinner is cooking then hopefully I wont pig out during the day haha!

I read a really scary article last night which said that new research shows babies born to overweight mothers are a third more likely to develop weight related problems themselves. This scared me as I would like to start thinking about kids in the next few years. I reckon a lot of it is parents who eat badly and then teach their kids to eat badly rather than genetic though.

How is everyone else getting on?
xx

Hi everyone so official weigh in today was 16st 6.25lb yayyyy so 3.75lb lost :D

Considering I had a bad weekend and a few sneaky treats during the week, im really pleased.

Yesterdays diet was quite good:

breakfast - 1 weetabix and skimmed milk -100 calories
lunch - orange, apple and french fries crisps - 200 calories
dinner - beef stew, jacket potato and peas - 600 calories

snacks- 4 chocolate biscuits  - 340 calories

I think ill make a curry tonight to use up the last of the naughty jars in the cupboard. If i stick to low cals all day hopefully I will have enough saved up for some naan bread!

Does anyone know any websites with dance/workouts to do from home?

well done sophie on the weight loss so far your doing fab.

aparently there is a good workout program on you tube called leslie sansom, ive not tried it myself but others say its fab! worth a try.

ive got two kids and was overweighthaving them its a.huge fear.of mine them being overweight. plus being pregant overweigjt gets added lectures and stairs!! not fun.
luckly both kids born healthy and both are very slim and tall so fingers crossed they stay that way. they both do dance classes even though they are only 3&2 to get them used to exercise.

sarah xx

ahh that must be so cute, little ones dancing. Ive struggled over the weekend with the diet its the only proper time me and my boyfriend have together really and usually we go out to eat a lot. We have stayed in to eat and I have given myself smaller portions than him, but I am sure I am over my aim of 1500. I have tried to cook healthy meals so it shouldnt be too bad.

I am thinking that if i aim for 2000 at the weekends and 1500 during the week, it might help me stay on track. Usually i am ok during the week and then slip off course at the weekend, which leads to me giving up on the diet. Hopefully if i give myself a bit of slack at the weekend it will pay off.

We are going off for a walk this evening and have found loads of guides for walks near us, hopefully this will be some nice exercise.

Hi everyone,

Today has been ok so far for breakfast I had some special k and a glass of orange juice. My brother has come up to stay for a few days so we went out for lunch. We both had an all day traditional style cooked breakfast but I left my egg yolks and toast, cut the fat off my bacon and gave him my sausage so i'm hoping it wasnt too bad calorie wise.

I think ill make a veg curry for dinner for me and do my partner and brother a chicken curry with rice and naan.... mine should be lower in calories so not too bad for my counting.

How is everyone else getting on?

I think if you do allow yourself more calories at the weekend it'll make you less tempted to go off track plus if you are good during the week then a little weekend indulgence won't really matter - so long as it's nothing too crazy haha!

I had a bit of an off weekend while in Newcastle visiting my boyfriend's family. Nothing too drastic mind you but enough to make me feel focused for the week ahead!

hi, i think that is the key to dieting. to stay focused. After a few bad days it is so easy to drift off course and start the following week/month etc. I am going to be 100% for the next couple of days until weigh in, but im expecting a gain this week.
Yesterday was quite bad as we all went to pizza hut and I had the buffet lunch.... but i did spend about 6 hours walking around Lincoln. I have found that when im eating healthier I feel so much better, last night I felt so groggy. It has spurred me on because now I am craving fruit haha.

It is depressing knowing i start work in a week and a half and have no nice office clothes. If anyone knows anywhere that sells cheap works clothes size 22........ let me know

I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Sophie, just been reading your diary, you're doing really well!

sainsburys has their new range in and I think it's quite nice to be honest. I tried a load of clothes on last night but because my bottom half is a 22 and top half is 20, nothing fitted quite right! I did spy black trousers for £6 that will see you through til you get your first pay and you can get to marks and Spencer's ;)

you seem to eat a lot of similar food to me too, stews and curries etc. (I always skip the rice so I can have a naan bread!)

Do you use my fitness pal or any other way of counting your calories? I have my fitness pal set at 1900 calories currently but try to keep to 1500 daily, but it means I have a bit of leeway in case I need it. :)
