Well I'm trying something new.

I have just over 5 weeks to reach my target and I'm way off it at the mo. Weight watchers helped me lose 13lbs but I stopped for a while and put on 2lbs.
I want to lose 16lbs in under 6 weeks....this seems so unachievable, but I'm going to give it my best shot.
I'm using my fitness pal to log my intake but I thought if I share what I'm doing on here it may motivate me to keep going.

I have some Cambridge diet foods left, so I'm going to try to incorporate these to use them up.

Yesterday was my first day and I didn't feel too bad. I ate the following:
1 banana Cambridge shake
1 choc mint Cambridge shake
70g of slices roast chicken with 15g of pea shoots & a dollop of light salad cream.
1/4 of a promax meal bar.

Total calories 435
Total carbs 35g (oops!)
 
Day 2

Woke up starving & was in a major grump all morning.
Bit snappy this afternoon too. Due to the amount of water Ive drank....I'm never off the loo. I'm putting this all down to my body getting used to the lack of carbs. I was a real carbaholic.

Breakfast -Cambridge chocolate velvet shake.
Lunch- 70g roast chicken, 15g of pea shoots,12ml sachet of mayo & 1/4 promax meal bar.
Dinner- Chicken kebab with mushrooms & onion. Red cabbage, lettuce & garlic mayo. Sugar free lime & lemon jelly
Liquid- 4 x green tea
2.25lt water
3 x bacardi & diet coke

Total cals - 1104
Total carbs - 28g
 
Day 3

I Feel on top of the world today. The carb cravings seem to have gone & I'm feeling really positive and happy.
Its like Ive done the hard part now, I just need to stay off the carbs so I don't have to go through the difficult stage again.
The only thing that worries me is the lack of choices. I love a take away on a Saturday night but I'm just going to have to have a chicken tikka salad or a chicken kebab without the pitta.

Breakie- 1 slice of grilled Bacon, 1 poached egg 1 teaspoon of ketchup
Lunch- 70g roast chicken. 25g pea shoots. 100g red cabbage. 1tbsp extra light mayo
Dinner- 3 egg omelette with 3 slices of mozzarella & 2 slices of ham.
Liquids- 2 green tea. 3 teas with semi skimmed milk. 1 can diet lemonade. 1 can of diet Orange.
1.5ltr water.

Total cals - 694
Total carbs - 24
 
Day 4

Not sleeping very well, not sure if that's a side effect of low carb.
Was very tempted by my sons sandwich earlier today but I just kept telling myself "if I eat carbs I will have to go through the torture of carb cravings again".

Breakfast- 1poached egg & 1 atkins chocolate shake.
Lunch- nothing. Was too busy to feel hungry.
Dinner- marinated chicken kebab with baby leaf salad & garlic mayo. 1/2 atkins decadence chocolate bar.
Liquids- 2 teas with semi skimmed milk. 1 carton of Really light ribena. Sugar free Orange cordial. 1ltr water

Total cals 748
Total carbs 12g
 
Day 5

I couldn't help but have a sneaky step on the scales this morning. I've lost 6lbs in four days. Woohoo!

Breakfast- 1poached egg & 2 rashers of bacon
Lunch- 4 rashers bacon & 2 poached eggs.
Dinner- marinated chicken kebab with baby leaf salad & garlic mayo. Lime & lemon sugar free jelly. 1/2 atkins decadence chocolate bar.
Liquids- 2 teas with semi skimmed milk. 2 litres water. 7 shots bacardi & 3 diet cokes

Total cals 1535
Total carbs 15g
 
Day 6
Oooh too much bacardi last night. I've got a pounding head and a craving for a hot cheese scone with lashing of butter.
I found a great recipe for flax seed muffin. It really dissolved my carb cravings and was extremely filling.

Breakfast- half 30g pot of cadburys Philadelphia (hangover cure)
Lunch- flax seed muffin with butter & peanut butter.
Dinner- 3 naughty fish fingers with baby leaf salad & ketchup. Sugar free lime & lemon jelly.
Liquids- 2 teas with semi skimmed milk. 2 liters of water & 1 can of diet caffeine free coke.

Total cals- 726
Total carbs-34g :/
 
Day 7

Well I lost 7lbs this week and I'm really pleased with myself for sticking with it.
I still have 9lbs to go. I know I will only lose a couple of lbs a week from now on, so I just have to push on to try to reach my target before my holiday.

Breakfast- 2 bacon & ketchup
Lunch- birds eye chasseur chicken with salad & mayo.
Dinner- flaxseed muffin in a minute with butter & light soft cheese & peanut butter.
Liquids- 3 cups of tea with semi-skimmed milk. 1ltr water. 3 cans of diet caffeine free coke.

Total cals- 1316
Total carbs- 26g
 
Week 2, day 1

Hi Shanny, thanks for dropping in. I go on holiday on 2nd May. I was hungry for the first few days but now I have very little appetite. Don't get me wrong tho, I'd love a slice of pizza... LOL


Breakfast- one flaxseed muffin with butter & light soft cheese.
Lunch- chicken with mayo, rocket & 4 cherry tomatoes.
Dinner- roast chicken with 100g of swede and marmite gravy followed by lime & lemon jelly.
Liquids- 5 teas with milk
1.5 litres of water. 1 can of fanta lemon zero

Total cals 886

Week 2, day 2

Oooh bad carb craving for chips today! The cravings lasted all day long. Felt really desperate by the end of the night and I wasn't even hungry! I have no idea what that was all about....maybe self destruct mode!?

Breakfast-1 flaxseed muffin with butter & light soft cheese.
Lunch- thin sliced pork loin with rocket, 4 cherry tomatoes & mayo
Dinner- chicken & roast swede with marmite gravy. A bag of pork crackling & a atkins chocolate bar.
Liquids- 5 teas & milk. 2 litres water. 3 bacardis & coke.

Total cals- 1465 oops!
Total carbs-22
 
Week 2, day 3

I was feeling better this morning especially, when hubby said I looked thinner, while getting dressed.....but then the carb cravings started!

I was very naughty at dinner, which included 2 slices of danish bread and chocolate (hangs head in shame).

Carbs: 92g
 
Week 2, day 4

Breakfast- Cambridge banana shake.
Lunch- breaded fish fillet with ketchup.
Dinner- breaded fish fillet with ketchup.

Total cals: 602

You seem to be doing pretty well - but watch the breading on your meat - it might seem like a small amount but it can knock you out of ketosis. Also be careful about using things like atkins products. While sugar alcohols are OK for some people - for others they can kick start cravings and actually lead to weight gains. try to keep your diet clean and free of processed foods. Unprocessed meats, eggs, vegetables and loads of water = hey presto HUGE WEIGHT LOSS...

Oh and ditch the light and low fat products. Use real mayo and full fat. You'll end up eating less and be more satisfied

Just noticed the intake of alcohol. If you truly want to lose by a certain date you need to cut this out completely. Alcohol is metabolised in favour of other food so anything else you consume will turn to fat. Alcohol also contains high amounts of carbs and will stimulate insulin production and therefore increased fat. Sorry - but just for now - give it a miss.
