Myth or method?

There are no calories in anything eaten while travelling - in a plane, train, car, whatever.

And when I make a batch of Nigella's Rocky Road, which I do once a year for my friend's birthday, there are no calories in the bits I trim off when I am cutting it into neat squares.

I do so love the hot water bottle idea! I have a wonderful fleecy electric blanket - I am off now to turn it up really high. But I am a bit worried about all that melted fat . . .

Thinking about this a bit more, I wonder what these people do if they get caught in the rain on the way to class?

PMSL :D

PMSL at this thread!

I wonder if all the melting fat soaking into an electric blanket would make it smell like bacon sarnies...

hiya i've heard about the jeans because the lady that does the weighing was saying to someone else that maybe if she didnt wear her jeans and instead something lighter that it might make a difference to her weight xx

i wear leggings and a really light top with them ... i always take my shoes off. I have wore these from week 1.

I dont eats carbs on weigh in day until after weigh in i usually have soup :)

Someone in my group confessed to breathing out as they stepped on the scales and not breathing in until they got off because they were sure the air they were holding in their lungs made them weigh more...

And someone else came and asked if they could get reweighed because they wanted to try leaning back a bit on the scales because they had heard that would make a difference.

Desperate times call for desperate measures!!!!

just to let you know ladies the electric blanket doesnt work, even had a lie in thismorn and still not a size 8 lol:D
But on a serious note, or not so serious as the case may be I think every one has a weighing ritual, and i think it probably makes us feel better.
personally i have my weighing clothes, which is my lightest trousers and top, and my lightest bra and knickers, go for wee ( cos you never know how much that thimble full you manage to sqeeze out might way!!) and yes breath out before i get on the scales, oh and i dont eat after 2pm.
But the truth is non of it makes a difference but we all have a laugh about it in group

Im a total newbie (joining tonight) so am I getting this right:
  • Wrap up in an electirc blanket the night before & pray i wake up a size 8 thus not having to go to class
  • Go to class smelly rather than have a shower as I dont want to retain any water
  • Wear virually nothing (maybe just my underwear and a mac?)
  • Breathe out and nearly pass out whilst on the scales

WOW, im going to make a great impression tonight ladies, you have all put me at ease thank you!! x

If you have heavy jewellery it can make a difference, and winter tops and trousers are obviously going to be heavier than summer ones. I have a jumper which weighs nearly two pounds, so I always make sure I wear a tshirt under it if I am wearing it on weighing in day. And I always take my watch off - that's a bit silly because it doesn't weigh that much.

Little rituals are fine, we all do it even when it doesn't make much sense. But I do worry about the people who genuinely believe some of the stuff they come out with!

You need to rethink your strategy here. All those things should be saved for your third week.

Tonight you turn up in just your ordinary clothes and get your first weigh-in. Next week wear the same clothes - if you have followed the plan you will have lost well in your first week and won't need any tricks.

The following week is the time for all those weight-loss tips and turning up in a bikini. (Please try not to burn yourself on the electric blanket!)

Why? Because then the scales will show that you have lost loads and you will be Slimmer of the Week and get a whole load of fruit to take home with you (you aren't eligible for this in your second week)!!!!!

How sneaky is that!!!!:8855:
