I everyone!

My name is Sarah im 28 from Cardiff, i have four beautiful boys (7,4,2,8weeks).

Ive always struggled with my weight trying various diets, losing then putting back on

Started dieting, well change of lifestyle i like to call it, on 3rd of april, i started at19stone 2lbs

I now weight 17st 12lbs so have lost 1 stone and 4lbs

Everyone else i know hows dieting are a lots smaller than me, so don't really feel they understand me, so would be great to talk to people in a similar situation.

Ideally id like to be 11st 7lb but not looking at the bigger picture at the mo just taking half a stone at a time.

Not following a particular diet just cutting down on calorie intake and eating healthier, both my parents have heart problems. So i wanna be healthy for me my husband and our boys.

I have a lot of mobility problems and have to use crutches to walk which has added to the weight gain, so the only exercise i can do is an exercise bike everything else im unable todo, so makes the weight loss harder..

Sorry for blabbing on, good luck to all trying to lose weight, hope to get know you all:)

Hiya! Thought I'd reply to you, as I'm in a similar position with regards to mobility and exercise. I started out last August with 10 stone to lose, and so far I've lost 5 stone. I've done this purely by diet, zero exercise, so it can be done. I have ME, as well as osteoarthritis.

I've done calorie counting, starting at 1800 a day, now down to 1500-1600 a day, so not too drastic, nice and steady, which is by far the most sustainable way to do it. I also went to my doctor and asked to be prescribed Orlistat, which is the only weight loss drug available on the NHS. It's not a miracle cure, but it does help boost weight loss by stopping some of the fat you eat being absorbed.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend signing up to My Fitness Pal, which will help you plan out your food and keep track of calories.

All the very best.

Tracy x

Hiya love thank you

Well done on your weight loss thats really fab especially without the exercise

I was on orlistat two years ago and lost over three stone with the help of it, I'm due to see dr next week I'm going to ask if they can put me back on it.

Im currently hitting between 1300 and 1400 cals per day I'm also on my fitness pal, its been my saviour helping me count the calories!

It does get me down not being able to exercise as before i had the kids i used to go to the gym all the time, its hard getting into your head having to rely on people to do simple tasks but I'm getting there, just wanna lose weight hopefully ease the pain and make me feel more like me again, good luck with your continued weight loss :)

Hi and welcome. I know what you mean about dieting with people much thinner than you. It can seem so hard when there is loads to lose. I am doing something similar to you basically calorie counting and eating healthy. I do exercise though but last few weeks for various reasons I have not been able too. And still lost some. Must be hard with medical issues I had thyroid cancer and have PCOS neither is good weight loss wise but I am getting there. Sounds to me like you have already made a good loss. Also you seem to have a good outlook on how to get your goals too. Good luck on your journey :)

Hi again, and thanks! I'm a serial yo-yo dieter, have been for 30 years. As I approach 50 (less than 2 months, gulp), I really want this to be the one that lasts, lol. So I've been doing some reading up on the subject, and the book I've read that seems to really resonate with me is Eating Less by Gillian Riley - don't know if you've come across it? If not, I can really recommend it as a way of trying to address the psychological issues around addictive over-eating. x
