unfortunately for you, losing the weight will NOT shut them up, the only thing that will shut them up is keeping on maintaining the loss AFTER you lose the weight.
Take it as a challenge for yourself. Make baby steps. Ignore TOTALLY their comments. If they say anything to you, put your hands to your ears, shut your eyes and shout "lalalalalalala" so they will understand that you don't want to hear what they say After a couple of times, they'll shut up

. The more you'll lose the weight the more their attitude will start to change, but they still have their idea that you will put the weight back on...
it's been nearly 2 years that I have reached goal as you can see from my ticker. I've had just once put some weight back on during my 5-week long honeymoon, when I was eating out 3 times a day in restaurants and hotels and enjoy all food that Europe had to offer... but the weight dropped back when I returned. My family and friends were saying the same thing when I joined... but now it's a complete different music when they speak.
Dieting is about CONTROL. Eat less calories than what you burn WILL make you lose weight, but it might be NOT the right type of weight. Eat the right nutrition values WILL make you lose the RIGHT weight. It's a long process and it's a PERMANENT change. You must understand that you WON'T be able to return to your old ways or your family will be proved right and you'll put all your weight back on. However, dieting is not as boring and black-and-white as your family thinks. By using the WW method you ensure yourself that it'll be VERY difficult for you to put the weight back on again, because it gives you the tools to keep control in almost any situation AND it's so endurable that you can continue to follow the plan for the rest of your life (because THIS is what will happen better if you put this idea in your mind from the very start). As long as you keep on using the maintenance tools when you'll reach target, after months and years that you WILL be at target, your family will look at you with increased respect
Good luck and keep on following the plan. You will show them that you are capable of losing the weight and maintain a healthy weight
