O/T Unusual Names For Children?

In my sons toddler group we have a Demelza, Lace and a Bounty (little boy).

Demelza, now there's a good Cornish name!

Wot I don't like is when kids are given reasonable names and their mates nickname them, my step daughters friend is called Nathaniel and they all call him 'Naff'. Or Imogen who has parents who call her Immy

My youngest son is called Brandon and everyone calls him "Bran", which sounds a bit odd.


We went to Turkey (when he was one year old) and the waiters, where we stayed, LOVED him name. They kept saying things like,

"Ah Brandon Lee! (not his name) You are the son of Bruce Lee my friend! You will have a good life this time and live to be old!".
