Don't know whether this will help. Originally posted by Icemoose some time ago ... it's soooo true!! xx

I have definitely noticed that there are two kinds of people who do the crazy diet of a VLCD :)

The first kind are those that see the diet as a prison, they aren't allowed to eat, they aren't allowed to drink, they aren't allowed to go out and socialise on the diet, they aren't allowed to do things they want to do.

The second kind are those that see the diet as a choice, at anytime they can go and eat what they want, they can go and drink what they want but they choose not to because they want to lose weight and be slim more than they want to eat or drink.

The people who see the diet as a prison sentence tend to hate the diet all the way through, they generally feel unhappy while losing weight and from my experience tend to "escape" from the prison at some point and eat and drink and then the diet becomes even tougher.

For those that make a choice to just not eat or drink I find they tend to enjoy the diet!! They have made a good choice as they can feel the results and with the right mindset it is just a matter of keeping yourself focussed for a few months while you get to where you really want to get to.

All of us who start a VLCD desperately want to lose weight for many reasons and we all know the diet is in our own heads. If you drink the packs and drink the water and avoid food then you will lose weight as it is impossible not to, the only problem is whether your mind makes you falter along the way.

So please please see the diet as a choice, and a very good choice as it will change your life for the better.

GO FOR IT!!

Very good Jan, I feel I am in the second category, I am enjoying it, loving that it is working so well and it is not the toughest thing I have had to do in life with such worth while results....

but today i do feel a bit that I am in prison haha.... just cause of my humor, weather and feeling bored because first Sat in ages I havent went out or done anything... I will be back on track tomorrw after a good night sleep and hitting the gym in the morn :)

But that was very good to read, so thanks again x

I'm so glad i joined this forum because when ever i feel down i read everyones thoughts and feelings and realise i'm not on my own. Thank you everyone.

when i feel hungry i drink more water and make myself busy like yesterday spring cleaned the house and took everything out my wardrobe and replaced them took ages as i have so many cloths and shoes but it took me around 3 hours and i didnt once think about food x

Hi Benjamin,
Think of the end term goal and WHY you are really choosing a healthier lifestyle.
My brother was the same weight as you and stuggled with weight most of his teenage years until he though...enough!!
He used cycling to help shift the pounds, everytime he felt bored or had hunger pangs on the cycle he would hop.
When he came to visit me a year later, when he stepped off the plane he looked GEORGEOUS. Skinny jeans, funky teeshirt, he was turning the girls heads, that's for sure.
20 years later he is still slim, when he gains a few lbs he is back on the old bike again.
So I guess its exercise honey....and a vision of those skinny jeans. Whayhey!!
