Problem with LL :(

Thats fab, thanks serena! xx

Sorry that you had such a horrid time with the doc. Some people just don't get that people have issues with food and if it was as simple as eat less and exercise more then the diet industry wouldn't be making the millions it does from "repeat offenders" lol. We'd all go on a diet once and that would be it!

Is there another doctor in the practice (someone you've seen before maybe) who you know will be understanding. You could always ask the nurse for help - they sometimes have a bit more of their finger on the pulse and a more "wholistic approach" and can be more approachable.

With regards to the counselling aspect on your own, the following site was of use to me to find acredited counsellors, although I did see a counsellor mainly for depression.

BACP - The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

If you have a look you might find someone who specialises in eating disorders. You could always see if there is a Overeaters Anonymous group near you (although I have no idea if they're useful or not).

Sorry I can't help any further.

Westie, thanks for that its useful info.

That doctor just didnt seem to get it at all, I might ask a different one again in a couple of months but to be honest my confidence is dented a bit, it took a lot to go and tell someone i thought i had a problem, and to just be told to stop being silly really got to me.

I think i'll try and get some books on the subject for now, I did look into paying for my own cousellor, but its £80 an hour.. not something we can afford ontop of paying for VLCD too.

xx

Hi Rainbow Cookie,
please try another doctor because they really aren't all as ignorant as the one you saw already. If you were an alcoholic, you would get referred for help, I believe excessive eating is no different!!! There is more to overeating than being a pig (as some people seem to believe!!). I'm very lucky with my doctors as they have supported me all the way through my lighterlife journey and now through my post lighterlife journey. I found out alot about myself whilst losing weight but I am finding out more about myself now that I am eating again!! It's not easy but you can do it and you should have all the support from your doctor that you deserve! I wish you so much luck with whatever you do :)

Hi there, ive not been on for a while, but just wanted to say thanks for your kind reply. xx

I hope you sort something out that works for you x

Hi there Rainbow Cookie
I work for LighterLife (am also trianing to be Associate LL counsellor). With us, we would arrange for you to start group and come to a pop in on the weeks you cant make. We have a seprate room where you can watch that weeks dvd and then we weigh and measure clients and have a drink while chatting about any issues the week or the dvd have bought up. we then take a little time to discuss the weekly activity that was followed in class.

From now on though any nerw foundation groups are only 1.5hrs not 2hrs long and the dvd's are no longer used. does the shorter class time help with your dilemma? if not then please speak to your local LLC again and see if they are willing to sort something out for you. If not then i suggest trying a different LLC.

I hope your able to find a suitable solution. In my personal experience of my weight loss journey and weight issues, i have found that nothing, not cd,lipotrim or any of the conventional food diets came close to sorting out my issues with food like LL and my LLC has x

I have started w8 yesterday, and will try to sort out my issues myself through books etc. The local LLC to here wasnt very helpful so I dont really feel like trying her again. We are moving to the midlands in April so if I dont get on ok with w8 then I might look into LL again then.

xx
