And yes i have abused my body for most of my life eating and drinking like a man possessed so i know what its like.
I have to agree with the previous comments about having those things in, before I had kids I was a healthy BMI and had that mindset, I ate low GI and never bought "junk" or bread, white pasta, biscuits etc so I was never tempted, however I realised after having kids that it didn't work out that way, as yes I had much more calorific food in, and was making lots of dishes like high fat macaroni cheese ( my youngest was underweight as a baby), little things like having full fat milk in the fridge and making a big pan of porridge for all four of us with full fat milk etc. and because I was so used to just pretending those things didn't exist, I gained 3 stone in 3 years after having my son.
To me now it's about managing realistically with that temptation, yes we have currently have crisps, cake( OH's birthday) chocolate ( for trick or treaters), full fat milk, cheese, Philadelphia, bread etc, and I'm just needing to teach myself that I can make cheese sandwiches for the kids lunches without needing to have one myself, or eat their leftover toast/ unwanted snacks etc
