Really need some advice.

Hi guys I posted a question a week or so ago asking for some advice as you ladys obviously have experience in the matter and no one answered so I'm am still a bit confused.

Any way I had three days of spotting early-mid jan about a week and a half after my period (sorry if TMI). I was due to start my period on Monday but nothing came then on Tuesday I started to get brown spotting which I usually do at the start of my period but it has lasted four days with no bleeding, not enough spotting even for a panty liner.

I have done a couple of tests which have been negative but I did those late in the evening so I wondered if that made a big difference.

I have been really really tired this week and really bloated, my skin is horrendus and i am having trouble going to the toilet (again sorry for TMI).

Ive been looking up online and half the websites I have looked at say I might be pregnant and the other half say I'm not so I am none the wiser.

If any body thinks they could help me answer this conundrum I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Vicky

Dear Vicky

I'm sorry no-one has replied to you before but it could be because those who have seen your post are not doctors or nurses.
I'm not either but I work in a surgery and I strongly suggest that if your periods have always been regular previously then you need to go see your GP.

I don't know if it's true but I was always told you can get false negative results to a pregnancy test but you don't get false positive.

A VLCD can alter your menstrual cycle - it did mine, but I don't know if you are on one of those.

Take care and let me know how you get on

I agree with Helen, I think you need to see your GP as they will be able to help you better than anyone here can

Best of luck at the docs hun and keep us posted on how you get on.

Thanks for replying, Im not on a VLCD and nothing has happened that could mess me up at all.

I went to the FPC on Saturday as I am between doctors at the moment and it would take me ages to get an appointment so I thought at least if I go there I can see a nurse.

I saw two nurses the first one wasn't really listening to me, did a pregnancy test which was negative and then told me to do a Chlamidya test even though I told her me and other half have been together nearly 4 years now and I think something would have surfaced before hand if that were the case.

Any way saw the second nurse who was more senior who wants me to go back on Thursday with an early morning sample to see what happens with that. They also told me my blood pressure was high but not sure if that is related or not.

Any way wont know anything more till I've got my next results on Thursday evening, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again for replying to me guys, just knowing someone is listening to me helps loads

xx

I know, I felt like sticking her Chlamidya test swab up her bum but I didn't think that would help me much lol

over the counter pregnancy tests should be used with first morning urine to detect a pregnancy test in the first instance. Some are not sensitive enough to pick up the hormone until you are a few days late.

Good Luck for Thursday and sorry to hear your first nurse didnt listen xxx

Thanks Nicky

luckily the second nurse took me seriously, she went through my dates and said that maybe if I were pregnant the hormone wasn't showing up becuase it wasn't a full month since ovulation so that's why she wants me to go back on Thursday, I've started getting cramps now though so feeling very low atm :(

Thanks Nicky

I'm glad you went to the FPC but I strongly suggest you get yourself registered with a GP sooner rather than later. It's your decision and if you have no other medical worries then the FPC will be able to deal with your problem, but if the nurse there says you need to get registered PLEASE take her advice.

I agree it's a real pain when people don't listen to you but if you have never had a chlamydia test before then it was not a bad idea. Even if you have been in a stable relationship for a number of years it would still have been something to be eliminated. Try to understand from a medical point of view, you cannot take someone's word - you have to have evidence one way or another.

Thanks for keeping us posted

That's very good advice there. I have been with my husband for nearly 6 years and we both had to have chlamydia tests. At the end of the day they do have to eliminate other possibilities too. As far as they know either of you could have strayed and picked something up (it happens) and in any case, you can have it totally symptom free for a number of years. It doesn't hurt to be checked anyway

Taz, that's exactly what I was trying to say - just didn't manage to say it as tactfully well as you did:rolleyes:

Lol I appreciate what your saying Helen I am just a bit frustrated thats all. I know they have to look at every angle, I work for the NHS myself in the contracting so I see the figures of how many people end up with nasties any way.

Got my appointment after work, have my little pot of wee all ready to go.

Been having some odd symptoms again as well as the litte sharp pains in my very low abdomen my legs have started to hurt a little bit and I've got these great big bright blue veins (Not that I think that they would be any other colour) on my right hip/thigh and on my right boob and my nips have gone two tone sort of almost white near the centre of my chest and tan at the outside :s

TMI but I have a bit of a swollen area too???? Well I shall find out later, I hope

Hope all is OK

Hi ladies, well I saw two nurses and a doctor last night. The pregnancy test was negative and the nurses general consensus was that I sould make an appointment with my GP and have them take some blood, her thoughts were that I might be in the minority of women that do not produce the hormone in urine. She thought it might be an idea to see the on site doctor as well as he was a gynae specialist and thought he might want to take a look at the swelling that I have got.

Well the doctor decided that all that was wrong with me was that I was not doing enough exercise. And that none of my symptoms related to anything other than not exercising enough, which is at odds with everything the nurses told me!

The nurses were lovely couldn't have been more helpful and really listening to what I was saying, have to say not sure what planet the doctor was on becuase he told me that I need to exercise and activley start TTC even though I said we weren't trying we had just had an accident?!?!?

Any way sorry to have rambled on at you ladies all week but thank you for listening to me. I'm still utterly confused as to what is wrong with me but I am going to try and get an appointment with my GP but I don't think he will see me till I have had my assesment by the nurse.

I will up my gym attendances even though I go 2-3 times a week already (I did tell him that) and see if the symptoms go away.

Thanks Girls

Vicky xx

Hi Vicky,

What a confusing time for you.

When I was trying to fall pregnant I had four negative results and my GP said I didn't have the missed period because of my weight.

I left it at that and carried on as normal for a couple of weeks. When nothing had happened I took another test and that was positive. I just knew I was pregnant.

Myabe you should see your GP and get the blood test so you'll know one way or the other.

Hope it all goes well.

hello toria, usually you know your body more than anyone, if you don't feel right then chances are they are missing something. i shall give you an example. i had light brown spotting, that went on for a few days, went to the docs, they said it was because i was due on, came on lighter but my body just felt different so i went back, they told me it was the hormones changing due to having a period and that the breasts would be tender, went home,2 weeks bleeding lightly this time i insisted i was pregnant, they done a test and i was, told me it could be a threatened misscarriage and sent me hometo rest, cut a long story short it was infact an ectopic pregnancy, i went 6 weeks and 3 days when it had a little beating heart before they could pick up on it, as a result i lost my right tube and my baby....we know our body better than anyone, sometimes you really have to push them to investigate, i did in the end and luckily was just in time before i could have died!!!. keep a close eye on it. i went to lipotrim diet yesterday and was advised not to worry as the remainding tube will open up as weight loss is achieved, also that when you lose weight you have more of a chance of concieving as being overweight gives you lots of extra hormones your body doesn't need!!. good luck hunny, my fingers are crossed for you.xx
