Reputation comments....???

hi there,
can someone explain what these reputation comments are all about, I just had a notification at the top of my page and there were some comments from people... some lovely ones actually! how do I find out who they are from?
I had some on there from ages ago but never seen them before. Can I also give other people these comments??

Reputation comments are for personal 'thank you, welll done, i agree........' Unless they put their name to it you don't know who they are from. I always put my name on.

yes you can give them also, on the bottom left on the stats section click on *
