Rhi's Diet Rant

I have been reading people's diaries and am finding them so insparational! Well done everyone you are doing so so well.
I decided to start one myself because I am able to process things so much better when I write (type) them down.

So, my stats say I started my diet a couple of weeks ago, which is not quite right, I started last June, hit a wall, and so this is my fresh start.

Last June I came to the point where I felt awful in all of my clothes, jeans didn't fit, etc. I had been seeing someone new since Feb and as we both live with the parents it was the usual eating out, drinks every night we got together - it was inevitable.
So I weighed myself, I think I was just over 13stone, and signed up to myfitnesspal, which I found amazing to be honest. I know what I'm like, I love my junk food, I have limited supplies of willpower, so I took it slowly, and with many stop and starts in between I reached 11st 3lb before going on holiday at the end of April this year. Very chuffed as this is a little lighter than the top end of the correct BMI for my height :)
After that though, the willpower had just gone. My boyfriend and I are currently saving up to move in together, so rather than buying my own food I started eating whatever my parents were having in the evenings (which often involves added rice wine, cheese, etc), and not counting cals full time meant that I was often quite lax during the day aswell - plus a CHIP SHOP had openned up right next to work - disaster! I slowly saw myself creeping back up, though I tried half-heartedly to cut the cals. By mid July I was back up to 11st11lb, and thought no, this is enough, I will not creep back up past 12st.

My goal weight is 10stone, which is just about half way into my ideal BMI. My goal size is 12 bottom, 10 on top.

So here I am, slimming world, week 3, going ok. I think.

It's expensive. I am spending SO much money on food, it's quite horrendous. There are 3 things that people my age want in life I think (outside of work aspirations) - a good relationship, a good social life, a healthy gorgeous body. But how do you juggle all three?! In order to pay for my healthy food I am sacrificing saving to move in with the bf (ok, so not sacrificing the whole relationship, but it's stopping us from moving forward), less money to socialise but I am determained to be a good friend so I making the effort (I am often too lazy to make an effort so have promised myself that this will change), socialising often involves eating out and drinking so that is bad for the diet and my purse!
The answer may lie in getting a better paid job, but this is a whole other story for a whole other forum, haha.
Buying food in bulk, mass producing meals and freezing should be the answer, but in a house with 2 parents, 3 young adults, 2 dogs, there is not very often room in the fridge or freezer for storing my food!

Week 1 - Lost 2.5lb despite attending house party with nibbles and lots of alcohol (did not syn this night I dread to think how bad it was). Also managed to squeeze in a chinese take away, yum.
Week 2 - Lost 1.5lbs despite 1 night out with food and booze, and a chinese (syned it, good girl Rhi, but went over syns for the week, boo) I weighed mid week and found I'd but on, so wasn't expecting a great week, but stepping on those scales on Friday and seeing the results really made it worth the effort!
Week 3 - I am doing a good job in sticking to the slimming world plan I think! I am on extra easy at the moment, the plan is to keep at this diet until I find the weight isn't shifting anymore, and then I'll try the greens and reds. I'm doing it again though, a sneaky mid week weigh, and have put on a lb - hope it shifts by Friday! Or maybe I'll blame it on today's outfit ;)

I have a busy month ahead of me - weekend away to Bristol, birthday party weekend after, 4 days at a festival the following weekend (hmmm, maybe this is where all my money is going) - it's gonna be tough, I don't expect amazing results this month, but I will try my hardest :)

If anyone has some money saving tips though PLEASE send them my way! Where should I shop for cheap meat, fruit and veg? My mum thinks I am just being too extravagent with my meal choices, but as I'm sure you'd all agree, dieting is SO much easier when your not stuck eating a boring ol' salad every single day.
