Oooo what a shame - I do a car boot regularly for a charity - 'fraid Nottingham's too far for me though. We are down south, and find the cost of hiring skips is prohibitive so we pack up the car and take it to the local dump, which is free.

All metal stuff is worth putting outside for the local rag'n'bone man to collect if you have one.
Furniture is best broken up and taken to the tip.
The council will collect bulky items check the website for their fees.
Skips are expensive but ring around for quotes and check out the Hippo bag option, you buy it at a DIY store for around £8-10 fill it like you would a skip then phone for a collection x
Fridges and freezers require special collection/disposal x
