Hi and welcome. We have lots of members who are following SW but not going to a class. Suggest you start a diary thread in the SW section for support. Good luck.

Hi Kelly

I have just started SW online from home as I find it difficult to get to a class. So far so good but I feel as if I am eating loads and not really sure if I'm doing the right thing, although everything is allegedly free lol Let me know how you get on

I've been doing slimming world from home since Tuesday. I'm gonna stick with it and see how it goes, but if I feel I need extra support I will join a group to keep me going.

I started SW in December and was going to class up until about 4 weeks ago. The classes were starting to bore me but I find this website full of support and ideas to help me keep going.

Let me know how you get on.

I do SW from home. I did join and went 3 times but find it soo boring and dont like paying £4.95 to just be weighed!! So Monday morning I weigh myself (as well as a million times in the week lol) and report to my bf. Works for me and this site is fab for info.

I've been following SW from home since the beginning of january and I'm half a pound away from 3.5 stone off (and 4.5lbs away from target). I've found this site invaluable for support/ideas/motivation.

I would definitely join a 'home weigh in' thread in the weekly weigh in section at the top of the main page, as it gives you extra support and motivation knowing you're going to check in your weight loss every week with others who weigh in at home on the same day. Good luck - it can be done!

I have been following SW from home for a few weeks now. I find the support and encouragement on here as good if not better than any class (for me that is - personal opinion). I did find starting a diary helped as you make friends and they keep you motivated and help on bad days and vise versa :)

I've been doing it from home for about 15 months and it's one of the best things I've ever done!

I'm doing it from home now as there isn't a class convenient enough for me that's worth going to really. Its working for me, Im losing about 2-2.5lb a week and this board is definitely helping with ideas, motivation etc.

I dont think I would have managed if I hadn't already done SW as a group before though, as the online direction and support is non-existent IMO. I probably wont renew at the end of the 3 months and its definitely not worth the money, but then again if it works it works I guess.

I've been doing SW for about a month now at home, not using the Online either. Too expensive for me :(
I've lost 1st 2lbs so far.
I'm desperate to go to a group, but money is not good at the moment unfortunately.

When I was a kid my mum used to run a sort of group at home cos we couldn't afford anything in those days. All her mates used to come round, get weighed, chat and stuff, made a nice socialising night once a week as well as a cheap (free!) WI! :)

I follow SW at home too. I'm an online member and like Ermintrude I won't be renewing after 3 months. Its a waste of money, and I have the syns directory now so don't really need anything from their website.

I am an online member - the site is pretty bad, but I like belonging to SW 'officially', lol! It's perfectly possible to do SW without going to group and still succeed. I think I'm doing OK! :D

i joined a slimming world group about four years ago and over the course of about 6 months lost just over 3 stone. it was amazing. but then i started to struggle, i was having small losses or +'s week in week out and the group had gotten so big that i just lost interest by the time we had talked about everyones losses etc and it felt like my consultant had lost interest once i wasnt losing. ontop of that once you have paid to weigh in, drinks, taken something in for 'slimmer of the week' etc it was costing me to not lose weight!! so i stopped going and the weight crept back on again and i was heavier than when i started... i am feeling very motivivated at the moment and am not thinking long term and to be honest havent set myself any mini goals, just that i keep losing every week. any tips on what others use for mini goals would be appreciated!! so, i have lost another 1lb this week which is 7 in total and as i've been on plan for about three weeks its just over 2lb a week which i am happy with!!! todays a new day and the start of a fresh week so here's to next weeks weigh in!!! :)

week 1 297lb -2lb
week 2 295lb -4lb
week 3 291lb -1lb 1/2 stone lost!!! yay
week 4 290lb tbcont....

I don't go to classes but do subscribe to the online although will probably not renew. I've got all the books I understand what I have to do all I need to do is do it!! I do also have friends doing SW so we keep each other in check plus dinners round each others houses we know are always going to be SW friendly (apart from the alcohol....)

I think with the right support around definitely helps it just depends which is the best one for you xx

I agree about SW online. I def won't b renewing after my 3 months, don't think their website is up too much and so far I've got all my answers on here so think this is best place to be for support and advice

I do go to group and sit in afterwards for the pep talk (it's the same old routine) but to be honest it's the support and advice here which I've come to rely on. I learn much more here about the latest updates and hints and tips than from the consultant and the slimming world website (which I agree is pants!).

On the SW website I'm really surprised there is no forum for real voices - even their letters from members seem to be edited as they are all written in the same style. It's good to be able to look up syns but frustrating to not find the thing you are looking for. I know I could use the calculator but I would have to buy the product first...opps! Slipped into rant mode...I'll stop now!!! :)
