slow weight loss with IBS

Hi,

I've been following the Extra Easy plan since January 4th 100%. Eating all my veggies and following the rules strictly. I'm also doing around 45 minutes a week exercise and have around 6 stone and 5lbs to lose.

However I have only lost 4.5 lbs since starting which isn't very much. I'm really am following 100% and wondered if the IBS was getting into the way as I love potatoes and I do blow up and blurb a lot after.

Is it possible that it might affecting my weight loss? I just wondered as I am sticking to this diet for next 6 months to see bigger picture. As an incentive I'm also filling in my SW calendar from the magazine last year with every day I stick 100% to the plan, so far it's full up

Any ideas as I eat fruit and veg before free food, weight HE and check all the syns. I'm also eating huge portions of free food 3 times a day.

Any ideas would be appreciated?

well done for not giving up as it's very easy when we feel we're not getting anywhere.. keep with it.. try to juggle up your food so your not eating the same thing the whole time. Drink plenty of water. Also you have lost at a rate of a pound a week so that in itself is good. Keep that up and in a few weeks you will have a load more off:)

Yes, yes yes!

I have IBS which is controllable but goes into a flare up very quickly indeed.

I do extra easy but with a definate red slant eg not silly amounts of pasta, rice, potatoes, baked beans (dont even go there with beans tbh),sweetcorn and peas. I have them all (bar the beans) in smaller portions so I would eat 2 chicken breasts for example all the veggies or salad and a small portion of potatoes, rice etc and can only get away with pasta around once a week.

I do find though the IBS is very controlled doing it like this than my previous eating plan. I cant lose on green at all but this extra easy is fine for me as long as I dont go mad on the carby stuff

You've been doing it 3 weeks and you've lost 4.5 lbs. That's 1.5 lbs a week. That's exactly how much you should be losing. You are supposed to lose about 1-2lb a week. You're exactly in the middle so bang on target.

You have nothing to worry about, just carry on doing what you are doing :) If you did this every week for a year you would lose 5 and a half stone... It doesn't just disappear overnight :)

Took me 28 years to get to 18 stone. It's taken me 4 months to get to 15st 10lb. But I haven't seen 15st in years. I too have IBS, but don't find it interferes at all with the diet. I don't snack very often, so perhaps that helps. And I don't eat ridiculous sized portions, just normal dinners.

I'm Irish, and Lord knows we live on potatoes lol

I started on the 3rd of Jan and have only lost 2.5 pounds, so well done you for losing soo much.

I have IBS and have found whole wheat pasta better than the normal white? Also trying not to have cheese. Just a suggestion but you're doing great already. Well done! :)

Not enough Protein in my diet

Hi all,

thank you for your encourgement however, I have put on 1lb  and was 100% all week. Anyway I wasn't the only one so my consultant reviewed by diary and said not enough protein and far too little food.

I'm having the following:

breakfast 1 homemade fat free yogurt with 1 banana

Snack - 2 oranges at 10am and another 2 at around 12

Lunch

Pasta (wheat free) with 1/2 normal tin of tuna and carrots, onions etc

Home made yogurt with 2 satumas

Dinner

2 small jacket potatos with lots of superfree veg as a curry topping
home made yogurt with 2 satumas

snack 2 small pieces of M&S chocolate (3.5 per 1 inch SQ) =7 syns

1/2 milk allowance as use yogurt
5 scan bran with cottage cheese as snack with pickles

Anyway she said that there simply was not enough protein. :break_diet:

I wonder if not enough protein Is my reason as well?! Doctors thought I had IBS but turned out it was my thyroid causing side effects. Hmm... Omelettes all round this weekend lol good luck with ur weight loss though, I haven't lost for 2weeks even with exercise n 100% but I'm sticking with it n just modifying it each week till I find what wrks for me. Keep us posted :) x
