Small dilema about exercise, please help!

Hi everyone,

I'm on ss+ and I've started the gym a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. I do 50 minutes of cardio and then some light weights. I don't want to have the extra meal cause I don't feel like I need it... Never feel tired or anything. I'm not losing a lot of weight, it's really slowed down and I think it may be because of the exercise and the meal I'm having (all allowed foods). I have exactly 12 weeks to lose 3 stone and i'm scared I wont reach Goal. I just don't know what to do, I don't want to stop working out and I'm worried if I go back to ss my body will hold on to everything and the weightloss will stop all together. What do you lovely people suggest??

I'm drinking crazies amount of water too, well over 4 litres, so why the slow weight loss??

It may be that your body, not being used to working out, is starting to build muscle which weighs more than fat. And I don't know how you prepare your food, but if you're using salt or soy sauce or things like that, you may be retaining a little water.

While some people manage to lose 1st per month, they tend to be very strict on CD with no outside food or drink. And it also depends on your starting weight - the smaller you are, the loss slows down.

At the end of the day, if you stick to CD, you will lose weight. Be prepared for the fact that your body may go into STS or slower modes in order to adjust. It helps during those times to measure your inches lost which can be very motivating. :)

Good luck!

PS I forgot to mention I work out 5-6x per week - cardio and strength training. However I was doing this before CD as well, so haven't really noticed anything odd, except for the odd spell of dizziness, for which I eat 1 hard boiled egg, per my CDC's advice.

Thank you for your advice!
I do add a pinch if salt and Indian spices and dry fry the chicken. It could be the salt, I guess.

I used to exercise before cd too, but then stopped cause I was worried I wouldnt be able to cope but I feel fine! I workout 4 times a week at the moment but will gradually increase that.
So do you not have a meal when exercising? Just a hard boiled egg? I would like to take food out of the equation completely but I didnt know if that was wise choice whilst exercising.

I weight 13 st at the moment so I should be having good losses!

After feeling dizzy fairly frequently on the days I work out, I spoke with my CDC and we agreed I would have an egg or a small amount of chicken/turkey breast on the days I work out, which seems to work just fine.

Not sure what you are expecting for losses - after the first couple of weeks, 2-3lbs per week is good. A st/month is 3.5lbs per week which is a fairly high rate of loss. As I mentioned, every body is different. I've had weeks on ss 100% and lost 1-2lbs and weeks on 810 (the inbetween week) and lost 2-4lbs.

Hang in there!

I agree it could be muscle mass thats making you not lose so much weight. Its recommended the first few weeks you don't exercise... Perhaps change it up a bit and focus more on toning exercise with weights, maybe some pilates classes or swimming? This may make a difference and ul still be getting fit/toning.

Or perhaps go less to the gym to see if that makes a difference? X

I'm not expecting huge losses, 3-4lb would be great! I've been losing 2lbs for the last 2 weeks and I think it's STS this week. Totm is not due either. I think I might go to gym 3 times next week and I'll ss only and then see what happens.

It's a little disheartening when you drink over 4 litres and exercise... I guess I should just carry on for now.

Thanks guys!

Yes, smaller losses can be disheartening - I hear you on that!!! However, it beats the alternative! If I hadn't stuck with CD, I wouldn't now be down 36lbs and looking at 20lbs left to lose - in fact, if I had to bet, I'd bet I would be even heavier than when I started!

You will get there and you can do it!!!

Wow well done in your loss, that's amazing!
That is so true though, if I wasn't on cd i definitely would have gained loads!!

I will carry on and I sure do hope I can make it to goal in time, i'm getting married so I need to ASAP!!!
