It's a way of focusing your mind on what your aims are eg dont get hungry/ plan your weeks eating, potential danger area eg evening out/ weighing yourself every day and recording what you did to stop going off track. It's really addressing say the fact you cheat at the weekend, identifying what you do, then planning how to avoid doing it. It just makes you think before you do it.
