Right.........i'm stuck and i'm struggling.....i don't really know what i'm doing anymore except putting on!

I NEED HELP!!!! i've done slimming world - did well (lost 2st) until i fell off the bus and just couldn't get back on! i've done WW - wasted my money and didn't lose anything.

I know i can do it - i've done it before. My problem is that i have no control...if i fancy something i'll have it. it's also the boredom munchies that get me!! especially in the evening!!

I'm kinda trying to just watch what i eat/calorie count a bit but it's not really working.......

I need suggestions people!! i just don't know what to do anymore - i'm at my heaviest and i'm feeling it!! :sigh:

Hiya

Im exactly the same - been there done that diet - yet im STILL trying to lose weight! Im at the point now where im focusing on eating healthy and exercising 3 times a week and seeing how i get on. I think theres too much pressure with diets so you need to find something that you can adapt your lifestyle to and take it slowly. I expect big results all the time and am always disappointed when i dont reach them....and thats where the chocolate gets involved! I've now have had good a word with myself and am just taking it slowly and not expecting miracles and hopefully now the weight will come off and stay off!

I think that's good advice. When we 'start diets' we always expect results and we expect them fast. There's often a target and a goal date. I'm guilty of it, we all are.

What's working for me now is not being on a diet, it's about changing your eating habits and doing it SLOWLY. E.g. don't suddenly switch from a takeaway every night to salads every night straight away, it's unsustainable. Change maybe 1 thing a week, i.e. if you're boredom eating at work (or home) set yourself goals like 'I'm not going to eat until at least 2 hours after breakfast' and then extend them to 'I'm not going to eat after breakfast but before lunch' - little targets that are achievable and that tackle the problem. There's even a biscuit tin for sale with a timer on it so you physically can't open it again until a set number of hours has passed! (if you're cravings are that bad!). My goal this month is to stay under a certain number of calories for breakfast.

Also don't set yourself a target date, that just sets yourself up for disappointment and failure. Instead now I'm happy if I haven't gained anything in the month - if I finish a time period (a month, or year) lighter than when it started, happy days!

And finally don't put any pressure on yourself, if you 'fail' one day or even one week who cares, just get back on the wagon as soon as you can, be that a week or a month, or 6 months. Life doesn't stop just because you're trying to lose weight.

This is some solid advice.

I'm the worst for "when I lose weight I'll do x" or "when I can wear this I'll do y" - its hard stuff but very self defeating. I'm struggling at the minute too and I am a firm believer that your head has to be in the correct place to lose weight. Maybe being happier in day to day life, tackling the boredom and setting another target that is non weight related such as learning to drive/ski/bake (or whatever) would make you feel more fulfilled in everyday life and therefore make your weight loss easier?

Really good ideas/advice guys!!!

did really well today had cereal for brekkie, soup for lunch, fruit and carrot sticks snacks......had a bacon & sausage buttie for tea which would have been fine....if i hadn't gone rummaging and had 2 cereal bars and a choc mousse and some jelly......

next challenge: beat the evening munchies!!
