So I got weighed tonight with the intention of starting officially tomorrow, and my starting weight is 17st11lbs.

Hideous. How am I ever going to lose this weight?

I am 26, I have a gorgeous husband, no kids yet, and my life is incredible. But.. I just can't see it. I can't see through the flab! For want of a better phrase..! I lost 3.5 stone on the Cambridge at the start of 2012 and have put 3 back on. I'm a terrible binger. How can I retrain myself? Doing the Cambridge was terrible so I'm hoping coming to SW will be like dream being able to eat so much and lose!

I guess I just need some advice, some encouragement. A buddy. Someone I can chat to most days. Someone in a similar situation? Or have been as heavy as me? I'm just feeling a little lost.

Hello there!!!

I've been lurking on here for a while now, and saw your post and thought I'd reply. I've been big forever and started this diet at the beginning of this year. Lost 2 stone but then went on hols and one thing after another and I'm back to where I was. I think. Haven't hopped on the scales yet. Eeek!!!

Before Xmas I was 16st 10, so it must have increased somewhat now. After all the choc etc.

I've decided I no longer want to be a big girl, and I'm forty in June and would love, for once to wear nice fitted clothes to work instead of loose fitting dark colours and worrying about how chubby I look all the time.

Have a lovely partner and we bought a lab puppy back in June, so am hoping that he will get me out exercising more and help the weight loss!!

Sorry, am rambling now but would like a Buddy myself!!

I weighed in at 17st 12lbs at my last meeting. that was after losing a stone in 4 weeks following the EE plan. I think it's a great way to lose weight because you never need to feel hungry.
I am 52 and over the years have probably lost 20 stones (not all in 1 go though!) I have always put the weight back on.
Like you I have a lovely husband, a great life, 2 lovely kids bla bla bla, but I think I go on a self destruction course. I don't want to socialise because I look awful. I don't want to buy new clothes because they aren't what I would like to wear. BUT............I am positive this time. I have never done SW before but so far it has been easy.
Good luck. You can do it if you set small goals and don't look at the total you would like to lose.

Hi, I have a rather long way to go too. I've just turned 30 years old and currently weigh about 17st 2lb.

I have previously done the Cambridge diet as well, it worked but thought of doing it again fills me with dread so I decided against it.

We can all do this together. New Year, new us ;)

17st 7lb here! I managed to lose nearly 2st at the beginning of the year, but I had a family bereavment and went completely off track, put the whole lot back on!! Well, here I am again at day 1... We'll all do it together, it can be done hun.... Think of what you LOSE rather than focusing on what you weigh now xxx

Hi all. Glad to hear from you all, as you said BreadandButter, it's focussing on what we lose every week and not and the long road ahead. Happy new year to you all my lovelies! Here's to a great and slimmer 2013 to us all. Looking forward to getting to know you ladies better over the coming months!!!
Xx

Yep!! Happy New (slim!) Year to you all ladies!! xx

Ahh thank you all. It makes such a difference having friends on this forum who TOTALLY understand what its like!

Unfortunately I've had this stomach bug going round so I've had to live on toast and soup the last 48 hours :-( Hoping to get back 'on track' tomorrow! :)

Happy New Year everyone!

I used to be in the 18 stones before doing herbalife in 2011 and getting down four stone but then due to not being able to maintain the diet I ended up putting two stone back on hence starting slimming world November 2012. It's nice to have encouragement from the forums from time to time because let's face it we all have dark days. Im suffering a slight I can't believe I could ever get slim moment. Everyone is so supportive though :)

I was 19st 6lbs when I started SW, I'm down to 15st 4lbs at the moment and the only way is down! I've not got long to lose the weight as I'm doing it so that I can have a baby so can't be hanging around. Find your motivation (whatever it is) and stick with it! You sound motivated - just always keep that in mind when it gets hard and think back to how you felt at the beginning.

This is doable - you can lose the weight and keep it off! Good luck xxx

i agree, i definatly focus on what iam loosing rather than what my actual weight is, it really helps to think 2lb is 2lb, and not 'oh god thats nothing in comparison to what i want to achieve'. and iam not the most positive person in the world but you need to concentrate on what losses you can get at each WI.

Well, I've decided to start properly on sat. Got a rubbish few days at work coming up and still got some Christmas food hanging around. Want to do it this time 100% and no slip ups. I always start off well and then after a couple of months it's starts to go pear shaped. I'm having a "can't ever see myself being slim day too", been larger forever and can't imagine being any different. Oh we'll, fingers crossed when June comes, I'll be slimmer and 40 and not fat and 40.

I'm a SW at home person, live in the sticks and its a long way to nearest group, so I need all the buddies I can get. I have my own little Buddy at home too, my wee lab puppy. Anyway, off to watch eastenders and then bed. Hope you're all having a good day. No doubt will ramble some more tomorrow and then post official weight (eek) on sat morning!

Wow! Just googled slimming world forum and came across this post first. I am 25 and was absolutely horrified to step on the scales and see 17 st 6!!! My weight has always fluctuated my whole life going between 12.5st and 15st. Then 7 months ago I gave birth to my daughter and found out I had put 4 stone on during my pregnancy! I have never really struggled to lose weight with slim fast and diet chef but then hadn't learnt anything about eating properly so put it all back on as quickly as it came off. Now though the end seems so far away that I can't imagine it ever happening. Would be so great to be able to chat to people with similar amount to lose and take the journey together!

Good luck everyone! Lets really do it this time!!

:D
