Morning all - and another bright blue sky day here :)

Feeling good, and 'feel' as if changes are taking place in my body. When you're as big as me it's really hard to tell where the weight is actually coming off - but my (huge) tummy is much softer and droopier (sorry of that's tmi) and i feel like I can get right under the work desk, if that makes sense :). Going to do my measurements this weekend, which will be fun!

B - SW crustless quiche with tomatoes, spinach and bacon, coffee (milk HEA)
L - SW meal - sweet potato curry (so, not an SP day), soup and yogurt
D - depends what time I get home tonight, got to work late
S - Bread :D

Please tell me this was an attempt at humour :p bloody miserable here and has been all day. My feet have only just dried out from the walk into work this morning!

I can never tell changes, at all. Like my trousers generally have to fall down before I realise I might have lost some inches!! :D

Oh sorry Stackie - it WAS lovely here - but now it's about to rain, so will join you on the bedraggled front soon, no doubt!

I'm just having the SW sweet potato curry and oh my it is lovely! i also really like the way they've got the recipe on the back so you can try it yourself.

My SW Club FB friends are all trying meals and saying how lovely they are - and the sossies are also getting 5* reviews - so will try those if I get home early enough! I'd go and buy more if I had a bigger freezer LOL.

I didn't have to work late YAYE so am at home eating SW sossies and celeriac chips (with a synned tblsp of low fat mayo) :D

I love the sossies, they are going to be a staple part of my life!

Well ladies I need your opinion on something French - an agent I've been dealing with has tonight thrown in an idea that could be wonderful - or just plain bonkers! It's a building right in the heart of the lovely town I've been looking at (in the Limousin), with a shop at ground floor level, then three floors above for accommodation.

Each floor has it's own independent access so two could be done up and rented out, and Orbit and I live on one floor - and i either lease out the shop OR I set up my own natural skincare shop!

I'm sure there's lots of reasons why I shouldn't do it - but oh it could be fabulous! And bring in some much needed income...I've got lots more pics but they are in a pdf and I can't attach here (or can I?). Anyway, throw your thoughts at me!

Could be a fantastic opportunity for work life balance. Do your homework and see what retail in the town does well and where there's a gap for a new business - suck eggs grandma lol. I know you will be doing this and I'm stating the bleedin obvious haha xx

Don't be daft hun I always value your opinion, and you know me, I get all excited about an idea and forget to ask really basic questions, so I need others to point out all these things :D

Jon are I are hoping to go over for an explore at the end of next month, but a Yelp search shows only one other beauty shop which sells skincare (and not their own, so mine would be unique) - and the town is big and has about 8 hairdressers, so I think there could be room for one more little shop selling home made masks etc :). Rents are low, you only get about 200€ a month, but if the two flats are done nicely, that's still 400€ a month which, with the rent from London, covers all my living and spending costs and the property tax, and takes the pressure off the business to earn lots. Depends how much work the others floors are in, I guess.

Anyway - morning all! Another mostly SP day for me.

B - crustless quiche and coffee (HEA milk)
L - SW meatballs and salad with red pepper dressing (2)
D - pork loin and mash
S - yogurt ice cream (1), Hifis - or toast with butter!!! (HEB and syns) Will see how hungry I am.

TMI ALERT!

Re the SW meals, I loved the curry but had gas all night and then the runs this morning - needed a 'clear out' but I just wanted to let you know.

Oooh, if you could get to the point where the rents for your leased properties covered expenses and you just ran the business for spending money how flippin brilliant would that be??

I'm very excited for you :D

This venture sounds extremely exciting Susie! I have no advice because I'm clueless but it looks and sounds fab! Big question: broadband enabled??

Oh good question Essie, I don't know! But I'm guessing yes, it is a big town and there's an internet cafe there - but will check!

To quote Iggy Pop, I'm chairman of the board this afternoon, just not feeling it at all - everyone seems the same and the afternoon is dragggggging....

hi susie
ohh what an adventure and looks so rural and lovely hope it can work out for you x

Think it looks fab - could you one of the downstairs floors as a holiday let for you WEMITT friends to come and stay at?!
What an amazing opportunity and chance to be doing something you love.
In fact do you need a soap assistant?

Afternoon all :D

Well, another day, another retirement plan!!!

I got a call from a French immigration expert today - nice lady, from the UK originally, so we had a good chat. Essentially it's no to earning income from rents as a non-EU passport holder - and also a definite no to a retirement visa because the cost of living there is the same as the UK and I won't have enough income to support myself - so, it's back to looking in Italy!

Talked over with friends again and I'm going to look for a bigger village or town, one where there are English people already so there will be support there, plus will make it easier to assimilate (hopefully).

Shelley - you're welcome anytime hun - as assistant or layabout guest :D

Not a bad second choice :D

Food - had some synned treats last night but generally I've been pretty good for a weekend so far -

B - eggs on toast, tea (milk HEA)
L - SW meatballs and veg pasta meal - very nice, a bit runny though, and something like Worcestershire sauce left an aftertaste - prefer my own
D - chicken korma, rice and spinach
S - YUM - orange muller frozen yogurt - tried a little before, it is LUSH! :D

Will catch up on all your news now, have a good evening x

Hi Susie, your meals sound so lush! Wow who would of thought of these things, well done on researching all of these points. I have to say I much prefer Italy over France

Afternoon all :D

Horrible cold day here so a nice excuse to stay in, sip on rosehip and fennel tea and get food ready for the week - not much of an excuse, actually, because it's one of my favourite things to do :D

In the soupmaker is my usual "use up all the greens" soup, strange mix today though - celery, fennel, peas, spinach and lettuce. Just thrown the slow cooker on for a hearty chicken and stewing veg casserole for tonight. Also might make a baked bean lasagne for lunches, and do some egg, bacon and mushroom mini quiches for brekkie.

Been quite organised this weekend - I even cleaned the oven and vacuumed, which for me is a minor miracle!. And of course I viewed lots of Italian houses :D. The adventure of house searching is quite revealing about my friends, actually - a couple are very risk averse and really don't want me to buy a doer upper but something that's finished - whereas my mate yesterday went, "Go for it" and proceeded to google Workaway and sites like that for people who could work on the place for free :).

For example, this place needs a fair bit of work - but it could be glorious - has loads of land, so room for a pool and big veg plot, could extend out from the side with a colonaded porch and roof terrace above - and it's close to the beach and a couple of big towns for all the shops and so on. Apparently it's got a sea view but I can't see it.

Thoughts?

Properties for sale in Abruzzo Big habitable house in the suborbs of Atessa Atessa Habitable Homes BPAT30746

Wont let me open the link??

I think I'd fall in middle camp - I think some doing up and ability to have projects like the pool or veggie garden or small vineyard all good but wouldn't want to take on falling down place needing major structural effects. Especially not it Italy where workman can be very laid back!

Never heard of workaway - is it like free working hols? So you supply food / wine / lodgings and they bring there plumbing / electric / decorating skills??

Oh I wonder why you can't see it, think it might be their website permissions or something? Try googling Better Property Italy and in the search thing on the right hand side put Reference BPAT30746 (should come up with "Big habitable house in the suborbs of Atessa").

And I'm like you - I don't want to have to deal with putting on a new roof, etc - too expensive anyway :). I don't mind putting in a new K&B, etc, and knocking out walls maybe, though.

Workaway - yep, exactly as you describe - free workers for food and lodging - gives them a chance to experience a new country. etc :)
