Hey girls and guys, ive just found a link on the Guardian webpage which gives you the 'secret' 11 herbs and spices to make the KFC chicken.

Id love to make this (without the MSG) and was wondering if the ingredients would be free? (im on EE). Obviously id use a beaten egg and add breadcrumbs from my HEb.

It looks as though the only thing you'd have to syn would be the flour :)
I fancy some chicken now haha!

I wasnt going to use any flour, I was thinking of just mixing the herbs with breadcrumbs then dipping the chicken in a beaten egg and rolling in the mixture and bunging in the oven?! I suppose it would work :confused:

Just found this link. you may already have seen it. Not tried it but lots of people say its gorgeous

Syn Free KFC

10 x Chicken Drummers or 4 Chicken Breasts
1 x Tub Chicken Bovril Paste
1 x Egg
1 x Clove of Garlic crushed (optional if you dont like garlic)
2 x Teaspoons of Ground Black Pepper (optional)
2 x Teaspoons of Mixed Spice (optional)
1 x Teaspoon of mild chilli powder (optional)
4 x Slices brown bread
2 x Teaspoons mixed herbs

Method
Place chicken drummers/chicken breasts in a deep pan fill with water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 mins. Drain and leave to cool. When cool remove the skin and pat dry. Cut chicken breasts into strips.

Place the bread and mixed herbes into a food processor and blend until crumbled and empty onto a large dish. Scoop out all the bovril paste into a small bowl. Mix in the egg, crushed garlic, pepper, spice and chilli until you have a gloopy paste.

Now for the fun bit, but before you start switch on the oven to its highest setting and have a baking tray sprayed with fry light on stand by. Using a spoon carefully dribble the paste all over a chicken drummer/strip then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture and place on the baking tray. Repeat until all the drummers/strips are covered.

Place the chicken in the oven and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the breadcrumbs have started to go brown and crisp. Remove and leave to cool. Once cool transfer to a serving plate.

Enjoy!

"KFC" Drumsticks

Try these then.


Pete’s KFC Chicken Drumsticks



6 Chicken Drumsticks
1tsp mixed herbs
1tsp Knorr Aromat
4 slices of wholemeal bread
1/2 tsp Paprika
Pepper
3 eggs
Greaseproof paper to cover an oven tray




Place three slices from a 400g wholemeal loaf into the microwave and cook for 2-3 minutes, remove and allow to cool.

When breadcrumbs are cold place into a mini grinder with the herbs, paprika & Aromat and season with Pepper grind to a fine powder, place in a medium size plastic bag.

Prepare an oven tin by covering the inside with greaseproof paper.

Break the eggs into a small dish.

Set oven to 180c

Place the Chicken Drumsticks into a saucepan of water, bring to the boil, turn down to simmer for 5 mins, remove drumsticks and allow to cool.

When cool remove the skin, you should have a moist piece of Chicken.

Firstly dip the drumstick in the egg and then holding the bone of the drumstick, place into the bag, close the open end of the bag and holding it tightly, shake until the drumstick is covered with the breadcrumb mix. Remove and place on the baking tray, adding breadcrumbs where they are missing!
Cook for about 15-18 mins or until the drumsticks look nicely browned…


Serve with salad.
