Thinking of leaving CD for WW...too soon?


I have been struggling for 2 months now, in June last year when I started CD I was 21.7...my highest weight was actually just under 22 stone!:cry:

In Feb. I started feeling very unwell, dizzy, nauseas etc and it got that bad I was nearly fainting when I got up out of chairs.

I finally found out my iron level was through the floor, since started iron tablets I feel so much better but can not get back into the diet at all.

Through the difficult time I was going from SS+ to 1000kcal and I am just so messed up.

Been trying to get back on track with SS but after having 3 tetra's a day from Saturday I am still not in ketosis and I feel and look awful...white as a sheet I am told!

My cdc is away until the middle of April so I thought I would talk to you guys. I am not happy, I could go up the plans but I want to start living.

I can't go here or do that because it involves food...at least with weight watchers I can eat but just count points.

CD had been amazing for me, I got down to 13.2 on my scales but with all this mucking around I am in the 14's again. Still fitting into a size 14 and everything fits the same so not quite sure how that works.

I am not happy at my weight, I want to be in the healthy range, at the highest weight is 11.6 so I am determined to get there but maybe at a slower pace.

Just wondered what you all think?

You have come such a long way, well done... and not easy with those setbacks along the way. I do think it is important to work up the steps in CD as it helps you to slowly reintroduce carbs and also to rev up your metabolism. It's a shame your CDC can't help - is there another in the area who could maybe advise you? Or perhaps someone on here can advise? I would ask KD as she is very wise and knows a LOT about getting to goal and maintaining... maybe she'll see your thread & respond? There are many other experienced maintainers on minis too, so hopefully one will be along with some advice.
Just wanted to say well done on what you have achieved, it's amazing and very inspiring. Hang on in there, I'm sure there is an answer to this. Hugs.

hey hun, Im only able to do 810 becuase of my weight anyway so was considering WW again. Its a brilliant diet and doesnt resrict you as you say, if you have something coming up you can save points and plan for it. Im only gonna get 2lbs losses on 810 anyways and in the past ive lost 1-4lbs per week following WW! I have just over a weeks worth of CD packs and as soon as they are gone i am making the switch. I lost 2 stone on LT last september and didnt refeed just switched to very healthy eating and managed to keep every ammount of it off! So Im not worrying about that too much :) Its entirely your choice, If you have the time to be patient the do it. Its alot less demanding on WW, if you dont mind the slower losses then youll be fine xx

I would be more than happy to lose 2 pounds a week if I could join my family and friends going places or at events.

I will have to get back to eating food some time anyway so maybe now is the right time.

Have a box of cranberry bars and some porridge left but I still feel WW would be better for my head at the moment!

Don't like to text my CDC as she is on holiday, I will have to wait and phone her when she comes home.

i must say I want to congratulate you, on your losses and being aware of the struggles you are going through and not sticking your head into the sand about finding yourself back in the 14's.
you have done sooooo well getting down to the 14's.

I do think our heads have to be in the 'right place' to do ANY diet, and that diet has to fit with our desires and abilities.

If you are unable to abstain from food and it's causing repeated cheats and gains, then I do think that is a time to review things.. I'm not saying that HAS to be a change of diet, but it does need to be a review of the whole process - commitment, diet, desire etc.

I really hope whatever you choose that you succeed :) And that if not, you always have the option to return if you ever need to.

Emma, you sound pretty clear about what you want and why... very good luck to you. I am a bit evangelical about CD but perhaps it has done its job for you and circumstances mean a switch of diet is needed now.... I am sure you can make it work. Wish I could take the bars and porridge off your hands!
Whatever you do, be proud of how far you have come and good luck with the last leg of the journey! You will get there, I know.

I have been struggleing lately on CD, and often thought about switching to WW, but as soon as i make up my mind that i am going to swich, i start to panic, as i know CD will give me the weight loss quickly, whereas WW will take more time, so for me for now its CD.
You will know what is right for you, well done on your fab loss so far :D

Well I have been doing WW for a few days, I feel like I have so much more energy and been exercising and walking much more. BUT, food is over-rated!

Maybe it is too soon for me, I know I will have to come off CD at some stage but by then I should be at target and not be so concerned about losing just keeping it at that.

Hvae things to do on Saturday so thinking of starting again on Sunday, just going for it like I did the first time. I managed to go from June to Feb perfectly...no cheating..no worries.

Even if I have to lock myself in a room for 4 days I will, I need to get into ketosis and then I feel fine. So going to go for it one more time, keep your fingers crossed!!!
I am not going to rain on anyone's parade here and know that all diets work! It's making them work for you that counts!
I think before anyone jumps ship, think carefully... it's not just about how long it takes to get to goal...
If you have a lot of food issues, CD can be great for totally breaking them and from what I have seen over the few years I have been reading and been a member of this board, it seems that for some it takes longer for some to get over their food issues.
When I went from here to SW it just didn't work... the reason was because I desperately wanted to get back to normal, socialise etc... but it was too soon for me! For me the normal was what got me fat in the first place and hence me starting again from scratch...
If you can be sure that your views to food have changed and that you can eat all the foods in moderation then it seems a great idea for you.. but make sure you think carefully first :)
Also I never did any maintenence after finishing CD and put all the weight back on within 2 weeks :( so maybe if you decide to do WW. at least ensure you do the steps up first to allow your great weight loss so far to stabalize and your body to adjust to conventional dieting..

I am far from an expert, but have seen things from both sides of the coin...

However Emma, you have done amazingly well I can't wait to get into the 13's!! Good luck with the rest of the loss.. a loss is a loss which ever road you take to get there!

Just thinking. Your last few attempts of doing Cambridge have been difficult for you (getting back into ketosis and all that)..as it is for many people when they try to get back on it after a break. Maybe you'll do it this time. Maybe it'll be a difficult again...who knows.

Why not delay a return to CD for just a few days, and continue with WW, but gradually reduce Carbs at the same time.

If you use your points for more protein, ie eggs, chicken etc, and healthy fats (though I realise WW point heavily of healthy fats..so maybe more protein ;)), you could get yourself into ketosis that way.

Then you'll find it easier to slip into Cambridge. At least you'll be having more food while you get through those difficult days.

Very best of luck to you whichever way you go. You've already proved you can do it...just got to find the best way of getting back in the zone to finish the job :)
Well I have restarted again this morning, long way to go but glad to be trying once more. This is it...if I fail this time I will just forget about CD, it worked once so it has to work again!

Going to keep myself busy...that is what I did first time round. Thank you for the support guys!

how are you feeling emmalouise? i have decided (i think) that i am going to do CD until the end of June and hopefully lose another 2 to 2.5 stone between now and then, and then move to WW to lose the last stone or so. i have set my goal a bit higher than originally but would love to get to 12 stone 6 just to have a healthy BMI for once. anyone got any advice on how long it should be before you introduce the good carbs after CD on WW? i know it's ages away but i like to plan things!!

thank you! i have done WW before and loved it, but because i had so much to lose it was a bit disheartening to think i could lose the majority in half the time on CD. but i will be very happy to lose the last stone or so on WW as i can hopefully become a gold member and continue on with meetings when i go back to australia at the end of the year. Do you know if your WW goal has to be within a healthy BMI range?

just looked at your pics and stats, you have done so amazingly well! congratulations! very inspirational.
