Back at target, still thinking...

All quiet on the weight loss front for me at the moment. Still hanging around half a pound or so above target, so I'm just going to have to be patient.

I've decided I most likely will aim for 10st 7lbs, but I might take a wee maintenance break at 10:10 before pushing on.

It's not that I'm burnt out or fatigued or anything, I just fancy trying maintenance on for size, as it were. In theory, I should be able to eat at least 2000 calories a day without regaining weight, so I'm curious to see if that actually holds true!

Watch this space...:D

Drumroll please......

Weigh in today: 10st 10lbs exactly!!!! :woohoo:

I have finally reached my original target, and it "only" took me 5 years, lol:D

I am now officially a healthy weight for my height, and I shaved off the last half pound after a week of averaging nearly 1900 calories per day, which blows my mind when I think about it.

I will probably add more thoughts later...I don't think I'm really taking it in just yet...

Thanks, Susie!:D

Still trying to get my head round it if I'm honest, especially as I dropped another half pound this morning and I'm now 10st 9.6lbs:eek::D

I genuinely had no idea I could eat this much and still be losing at this weight. Not a clue. Exercise is powerful stuff!:D

Thanks, ladies!:D

The downward progress continues - closing in on 10st 9lbs now. I imagine I will start cycling back up again soon, but if I don't, I may have to add some more calories or back off the exercise because I really don't want to drop weight any faster than half a pound a week now I'm within my healthy range (still can't believe I am!...feels weird writing it!).

Having said that, I have 3 family birthdays coming up in the next few weeks, plus Easter - if the chocolate doesn't get me, the hot cross buns will!:p - so slowing down shouldn't really be a problem at that point.

Had insomnia last night (3 hours sleep, if I was lucky:() so I'm feeling pretty wrecked today. Trying to stay within my calories but I always want sugar, sugar and more sugar when I don't sleep, so I'll have to go a bit careful.

Somebody hide the biscuit tin, please...

Oh my goodness - hot cross buns! They don't do them here as far as I know, but I'm sure there's a delicious/hideously fattening local alternative .

Really hope you get some sleep tonight hun! I had a little doze on the sofa, not long but at least I feel more human, and less craving carbs.

"Within my healthy range..." - BRILLIANT!

Did you have a good nights sleep Scrumbles ?
Yes, I did, thanks! 7 whole hours, which is an hour more than usual for me.
Just about managed to hold it together on the food front, so no damage done there.:)

I bet there is!

I have to confess that sweet, spicy, fruity breads are my absolute kryptonite - much worse than chocolate. I can stop eating chocolate having had a reasonable portion and feel satisfied, but I have no "off" switch whatsoever when it comes to fruit breads. I could eat a pack of 4 hot cross buns (with butter and jam, of course!) in one go and still have room for more:oops:. Needless to say, I'm glad when Easter is over...

Beautiful sunshine here today (Guildford area), but the wind is a bit nippy. I went out walking but wasn't wearing enough layers, so turned around after only 10 minutes or so and came back. I don't *do* cold:cool:. I can always do some extra steps indoors to make up for it in any case.

Sunday is the first of the family birthdays (brother) so I think I'll have to have a day off logging my calories and just try to be as sensible as I can about food. I'll probably have a gain the next week because of it, but eh. Occasions are there to be enjoyed, and enjoy them I shall!:D

Same here with fruit breads, I love them too - just can't have them in the house. My gran used to make a Scottish thing called a clootie dumpling - steamed cake stuff with loads of fruit. Delicious!

Girls.... I´m drooling here... This is not good talk... fruit breads, steamed cake stuff... chocolate...

Glad you slept Scrumbles.

I´m dining out tomorrow as well and I´m not going to do and I need to sample all. As the mother of the bride to be I reckon it´s my duty.

Glad it's not just me! I've googled clootie dumpling and I need this in my life:eek:...well, I don't but I do!:p:D

Sorry about the "food porn" chat:p I definitely better not mention what I had yesterday, then...:cool:
How did the meal go? I hope you did your duty!:D

Had a great weekend - booze, food...no need to draw pictures!;) I did manage to stay within my maintenance limit on Friday and Saturday, though, which maybe helped offset Sunday a bit because I was actually at a new low this morning of 10st 9lbs exactly:eek:o_O Might have been the ton of gardening I did over the weekend that helped, mind you. Dunno!...but I'll take it!

Back to normal today with my food, though outdoor exercise probably won't happen 'cos it's drizzly and windy :( I guess I shall be keeping company with the lovely Lesley Sansone instead:)

Have a good one, folks!x

Ugh sorry about the weather, wish I could send you some lovely Spring sunshine (hehe - sorry ) - but well done on the new low woohoo!!!!!!

Now can you come and do my gardening? :D.

More food porn - the Clootie dumpling was lovely served hot with custard, but even better was in the following days because the skin around it thickened and went all lush and yummy and we'd slice the dumpling and toasted it. Mmmmmm :)

I finally asked my OH about clootie dumpling (he's Scottish) and he said when he was a kid they used to buy slices of it from the local shop and deep fry them, which didn't altogether surprise me given that they deep fry pretty much anything up there:p:D

I would love to do your garden, but I probably wouldn't know an Italian plant from an Italian weed and I'd be pulling up all the good stuff, lol! Is this the first garden you've owned, by the way? I remember you lived in a flat in London, so no garden there I assume? I know one thing that I'd be growing if I lived in Italy: lemons for my G&T's!:D

Could do with some of your spring sunshine today - it's wet, chilly and miserable here. :(

Haven't been out walking for a few days now, but I've been powering through as many mini dance sessions as possible to keep me active, and it seems to be working because I've inched down to another new low this morning of 10st 8.8lbs.

I did some number-crunching the other day and found that in the past 4 weeks I've lost exactly 3lbs, which is a pound more than I was aiming for, but when I checked my calories logged against calories burnt (via my tracker) I realised my deficit has actually been a bit bigger than I thought and I *should* have lost 2.5lbs, so I'm only half a pound out from expected, not a whole one.

What this tells me - other than that I am hopelessly anal when it comes to this tracking malarkey :p -is that either I slightly overestimate what I eat or my tracker slightly underestimates what I burn, but as it's as near as makes no difference, I'm happy.

Bottom line is that if I want to slow this process down it appears I do need to eat a bit more, perhaps nearer 2000 calories a day than the 1900 I've been having. The problem with that is that in spite of the evidence - which is as clear as day - I find it hard to believe that not only will I not lose at that calorie level, I might actually start regaining! It's really messing with my head in quite a big way.

I guess I just have to trust the numbers and see what happens. After all, what I'm really trying to achieve here is a balance of food and activity that will keep me at an acceptable weight in a sustainable way, so that's what I should focus on. If I can get that right, I'll be a happy woman!:D

LOL you'd do better than me on the plant vs weed front! And yes it is the first garden I've owned. The outside of the house is a bit of a tip TBH, there's a short driveway, with two old sheds that will need demolishing before the area can be cleared - and then I'll just get it all paved and do things in pots. But that will have to wait for funds, maybe in a year or two. One of the sheds has an old asbestos roof, which collapsed after the heavy snow this year, so will need taking away by specialists!

Blimey O'Reilly on your detailed tracking Scrummie you really do know exactly what's going on with the cals - why not try the higher cal level and see how you go, because you know how to peg it back quickly if you do have any gains.

Sounds like a good plan - I have loads of plants in pots because then it doesn't matter what the soil is like, plus it's easier for pest control. Just have to remember to water them all, which can be a bit of a pain in the rear when it gets warmer! Ouch at the asbestos. My in-laws have asbestos in their garage roof but as it would cost an arm and a leg for specialist removal, they're leaving it where it is (it's not harmful provided you don't interfere with it). Hope this kind of service is cheaper in Italy than it is in Scotland!

I am a total numbers nerd...can't deny it  It's like I'm my own science experiment or something:D It's great in a way because it takes away the guesswork (I hate guesswork!), but I do miss being able to eat on impulse. I mean, I can and I do change my plans if necessary - nothing is completely set in stone - but I pretty much never eat something just because I feel like it, if you know what I mean?

I guess that's just part of the price I'm paying for being a much smaller person than I was.

I'm doing my level best to ramp up my metabolism so that I get a goodly number of calories to play with every day, but even so, I always have limits. For example if my naturally skinny OH decides he wants ice cream, he gets it, has the amount he wants and thinks no more about it. If I want ice cream, I have to plan in advance so that it fits my calorie totals, then carefully measure it and eat only that amount, whether it satisfies me or not:rolleyes: And if I want some unexpectedly and I don't have sufficient calories for it, I then have to decide whether it's worth borrowing calories from days to come, writing it off as a blip and drawing a line or just not bothering! Naturally slim people don't have to bargain with themselves endlessly over a helping of ice cream - and ironically, nor did I when I was eating my way up to 17 stone. The big-and-getting-bigger version of me just ate the ice cream and was done with it. Happy days, lol!

Anyway, that's enough whinging.

Weight was down again this morning to 10st 8.4lbs, so I'm only 1.4lbs from my unofficial new target of 10st 7lbs  Thinking now I might aim for 10st 5lbs 1) because it would give me a bigger buffer zone within my healthy BMI range, and 2) because it would mean I've lost 100lbs in total since I started way back in November 2011, and I like round numbers, lol:D

Not making any plans beyond that, though - I'd be well chuffed if I could maintain there after all the problems I've had over the years.:)

Have a good weekend, folks!x

Where did that week go?o_O

I appear to have halted the downward trend this past week and am fluctuating around the 10st 9 mark, which is fine.

I am struggling a bit with my movement, though. I'm still hitting my goals but I seem to be developing one or two muscular twinges here and there that I'm having to be careful of. I hoped that doing only short bursts of exercise would keep me injury-free, but they are a lot more vigorous than when I first started, so maybe that's the problem. I can, of course, dial it back, but that will mean less food, which doesn't thrill me because I'm used to what I'm having at the moment. Oh well.

It's been a lovely week weatherwise with temps up into the low 20's yesterday - almost summery:eek: - but not so good today. Hopefully the weekend will be nice and gardening will be done:D

Have a good one, folks!x
