Turning 30 and making changes

I'm back again, for the millionth time, one week in and 4lbs down!

I can't describe how angry I feel with myself for being trapped in this cycle for so long. Same old patterns - bingeing, denial, avoiding the scales, etc, etc. It affects my self-esteem in every possible way, it affects my health, my confidence and I'm ready for this time to be the last time. I'm turning 30 this year and I want to make the most of my 30s without this extra weight dragging me down. It would be great to have a 'weight loss' buddy on here for support!

That all sounds very familiar, just 10 years on from you. Desperately trying to lose weight before turning 40 in 6 months time.
What plan are you doing?
Hi Kapow!

I'm just eating better, calorie counting and exercising once a week.
Not really a 'plan' as such but I'm using apps like MyFitnessPal, counting my steps with a pedometer and things like that. How about you?

I started exante last week but don't like the meals and can't survive on just the shakes. So probably doing the same as you, have an app to track calories and I'm walking more than normal.

Had a very hectic week with work and kids off school, hoping next week I can do more exercise.

How long till your 30th?

Ah, makes sense.

Only 3 weeks until my birthday but I had a mini-goal to lose 1st by then - well on track so fingers crossed!
I need to start exercising regularly, it's hard to keep up a commitment. I almost need to force myself to do it.

I really enjoy exercise once I get into it but find it hard to get motivated at first then give up if I don't see instant results.
I might try the couch to 5k app again from next week.

Hi Waterfall89

Like you, I’m on my millionth weight loss regime and I totally know what you mean about being angry with yourself being trapped in the same vicious cycles of dieting and binging. I sometimes feel sad about the sheer amount of time and energy I’ve wasted since I first joined WW in 1997 - since then I’ve either been on a diet or binging. However this is my path and I need to get on with it. I’m currently in the dieting cycle hoping I can maintain this time...

I follow the WW Smartpoints plan so it’s essentially calorie counting and I‘m trying to increase my walking.

Best of luck on your journey!

So I had a 'stay the same' the 2nd week, which was very frustrating - I did have a 'day off' (ate out etc) but still well within my calorie limits so that is a bit aggravating. I'm restricting quite a bit now and aiming to weigh on Saturday morning.

On the plus side, I have a date! I really struggle with confidence so fingers crossed that something comes of it.

I'm weighing myself everyday as I need to know what I'm doing is working, I don't mind if there's a couple of days my weight stays the same as long as it's not going back up.
How many calories a day are you on?
I used to walk at least 10000 steps a day but that was at a slow pace, I'm walking longer and faster know, just enough to get heart rate up and that seems to be making a difference in my legs.
Good luck with the date, let us know how it goes 😊

So, -3lbs for Week 3! :D

Very pleased after a disappointing STS in the second week, been very strict with myself and I feel the progress is continuing - not really struggling with hunger and I only have one 'cheat' day per week.

Date went well at the weekend so we have another one for Saturday and I've been obsessing over getting a nice outfit / trying to feel confident in my clothes, which is quite hard when I'm so far from goal. All in all though, it's going well so far!

So I haven't updated this in quite a while, but I haven't fallen off the wagon!
Had a few weeks of STS due to lots of (very pleasant) changes in my personal life, lots of socialising and going out, having a good time. I'm now at the -1st mark so it's slow progress but I'm setting a target of -3lbs for this week.

Hi @Waterfall89 - congratulations on getting your sun on the move!

Would you like to join us on the Team 50 thread? Just decide where you want to be by Xmas or use 17lbs (the number of weeks to Xmas) and make that yr goal.

Hi everyone

I've been very ill with COVID-19 over the past couple of weeks. As a result, I have unintentionally lost a lot of weight (10lbs in 2 weeks) - I am struggling to eat enough currently and am feeling very lethargic. Hoping that the weight loss gradually levels off to a manageable level once I am eating normally again.

So sorry you've been ill, Waterfall. I hope you recuperate well.

Thank you, I think I am on the mend.
My ticker seems to be taking a long time to update?
I have set myself a Christmas target of -20lbs from my current weight, which will take me to just under 14st ;) That would be a 3st loss since May!

Tockers update very very slowly - sometimes the next day. Very frustrating!

So, after starting this really positive thread a year ago, I fell off the wagon at Christmas and gained it all back.
My relationship also ended. Back to square one then!
Monday will be my first weigh-in since starting again and it's looking good, -4lbs ish like before.
