tweekedgirl's Weight Loss Diary

Thought I'd pop on quickly and post about today's small mental/willpower related victory.

It's fair to say I have a massive love for Walker's Sensations, and every now and again I'd buy and eat the entire of one of those 150g 'sharing' bags. Was craving some today and so bought a bag. Now usually I'd take it upstairs and polish the thing off in front of the computer. However today, I actually weighed out a reasonable portion of 40g, which works out at 201 calories, and is within my calories for the day. The rest of the bag has been folded up in a cupboard somewhere to be eaten tomorrow. Habits are hard to break but really feel like I've achieved something here lol.

For tea we ended up having chinese style pork chops with all the fat cut off with broccoli and carrots (322 calories). Gonna finish the day with an Options hot chocolate meaning my total is 1285/1310 calories ^_^ Very pleased.

Well done you! It's so hard to break old habits! Sounds like a really good day. X

RawrGirl seconds Squishy's post. Well done!

Portion control on snacks and sweets is so hard. RawrGirl still hasn't mastered that...

Thank you!

Today is a different matter - pay day so went in town and ended up having Pizza Hut for tea which was a whopping 1700 calories. Added to MFP and let's call that that. However the crisps are still untouched in the cupboard!

But on the other hand, I'm off to a businessy type meeting in Liverpool on Saturday so bought myself some smart casual clothing, which feature size 12 skinny black jeans, size 12 strappy top and a small cardigan. It's been a long time since I've bought a full set of size 12s!

Well after that pizza last night, it's fair to say that the scales reflected the sheer amount of dough and cheese consumed! Not very confident about any sort of loss this week, but not too fussed. Having a low calorie day today to try and end with a balanced week. x

Well, who knew that half a large Pizza Hut pizza could cause so much damage! Official weigh in this week at 65.5kg, a gain of +0.7kg! Whoops :p x

So time to do a proper update today rather than the dribs and drabs I've been posting recently. Been busy with getting university work completed for deadlines and seem to have been out for social things a lot these past couple of weeks so not really had the time to sit down and do a proper entry. I've almost finished uni for this semester now, and just have an exam on Friday and then off for four weeks. I'll be upping my hours at work to get a bit of extra money but still be working on my dissertation as well so plenty to keep me busy over the holidays and hopefully away from all the lovely snacks!

So food wise for the past week or so, I definitely can't say it's been brilliant. Due to a few social occasions this week, we're tending to come home very late at night and so end up buying food out. However, even in those situations tried to opt for smaller portions to minimize damage. Also far too much alcohol this week but hey - it's Christmas! Weight wise, I seem to be stuck around 65.4kg, which is alright considering the food and is far better than a gain. Trying to have a few good days and maybe push for a little loss this Saturday. Yesterday finished on 1232 calories, and today hoping for a similar amount. I had soup with pasta for breakfast/dinner and planned a Thai curry with egg noodles for tea tonight.

Exercise wise, despite the cold I'm trying to walk more, and both yesterday and today I've done 50 minutes of walking. Don't think I'll be going to the gym this week as come down with a cold again and my nose is running like crazy! Can't imagine that'll look attractive on a treadmill haha.

With regards to the constipation problems I've been having over the past month, went to the doctor the other day and she suggested I may have mild IBS. I've been given Fibergel to drink for a month to see if this helps but at the minute it's causing some serious bloating and I absolutely hate looking down and seeing my belly so round! Makes me feel like I'm gaining loads of weight and going backwards and it's quite a mental barrier to think that 'No, I'm still on track and just need to keep plodding on.' I initially had a goal of loosing three pounds in December, but honestly don't think I'll manage that. However, I'm not going to give up and I'm going to try my very hardest to have a great December weight-wise.

Please stop spamming my diary with generic comments.

Finished the day on a nice 1386/1488 calories. (May have forgotten to count a few celebrations but still a good day overall and have avoided the snacks on the whole)

Argh, same thing on my diary. So annoying!!

Glad you had a good day! I've been snacky all day but managed to stick within my cals. Still feel guilty though!! X

Yeh Rawrgirl, I hate wearing baggy clothes, but at the minute that's all I've got really for lounging about the house. I'm really refusing to buy many new clothes until I reach my goal. My dissertation is on 'How the colour of lighting in video games affects the memory capabilities across gender', fascinating :p

Weight again this morning is still 65.4kg! I put this stand still down to the fact that 1) I'm ill and my body is holding on to everything to fight it, 2) The fibergel stuff is causing bloating and 3) eating late meals because the BF isn't finishing work until 8. Hopefully once this illness has passed the weight will just drop off, fingers crossed. From next week I'm in work 4 days a week, and the times that I'm in are very convenient for getting to the gym, so I'll be looking to go 2-3 times a week and work on my cardio.

Food today: fruit and fibre bran flakes for breakfast, Heinz carrot and coriander soup for dinner, and thinking of having a mixed bean chilli for tea. That leaves with a good couple of hundred calories left over for healthy snacks and coffees throughout the day.

Hiya keep popping over and having a nosey at your diary :). You re doing so well and it's all good practise for when get to the maintaining stage. Do you have an aim goal date? X

Thank you LucyNewMum, no I don't have an exact goal date, but I'd like to be there abouts by the time I graduate in 5 months.

So official weigh-in today was 65.2kg. The scales were a little bit all over the place this morning but this was the weight that showed up most so I'll go with this lol. This is a loss of 0.3kg since last week, so not fantastic, but considering the sheer amount of food and drink I've consumed over the last week I'm more than happy that it's not a gain.

Tonight is the last of the social events planned for me for December (apart from Xmas day of course!) and it's the work staff do and we're all going for a curry. Going to have a look at the menu in a minute so I can pre-plan the healthier options. After tonight, I'm really gonna push hard for some sort of decent loss this month. I now completely understand all these people who have a fear of December when it comes to dieting! There's just far too much going on and being out so much with socialising/shopping ect makes it 10x harder to keep to a calorie limit.

But yeh, as I said, a couple of weeks is NOT going to ruin 6 months of healthy eating, and come January when life gets back to normal, I'll be reaching my goal in no time at all :)

EDIT:

So had a look at the menu of where I'll be eating tonight, and think I've decided on food that sounds both delicious and not too naughty! I've tried my best to work out the approximate calories based off a variety of similar things on MFP, so kind gone with the averages as some might be more, some might be less.

One papadom with dip (70 calories?)
Starter - grilled chicken tikka pieces (130 calories?)
Main - Nepalese paneer curry (450 calories?)
Side - Egg rice (200 calories?)
Half a garlic naan (180 calories?)
Drinks - water

Total - 1030 calories, give or take a few

Gonna get a bit of exercise in later on and try and burn a few calories to help reduce any disaster which may occur from this Indian!

Morning everyone!

Last went ok, but not as planned. Turned out that rather than ordering from the normal menu they'd arranged a buffet style meal, which blew all my nicely planned options out of the window. I tried to stick as closely to what I'd originally planned as possible, and had one and a little bit poppadoms with dip, they had a mixed starter with a selection of pieces such as onion baaji and chicken pakora. The mains they laid out where chicken tikka masala, chicken bhuna, lamb something, and prawn something. They were all similar tomato based curries with some a little bit creamier than others. I ate until I was full, tried not to over do it, and drink wise kept to two alcohol free mango mojitos. Hopefully I think I only ate a couple of hundred more calories than planned so not too bad.

In terms of exercise, I'm now off uni for four weeks so I've got time to up my game! I've planned to do something exercise-wise 6/7 days a week, and I needed something I could do at home as well so I've decided to give the 30 day shred a go. I've taken a photo on the first day, and I'm going to be taking one once a week until it's finished so I can track my progress not only by weight but by appearance.

So my exercise schedule is looking a little like this:
Monday - 30 day shred
Tuesday - gym
Wednesday - 30 day shred
Thursday - gym
Friday - 30 day shred
Saturday - gym
Sunday - rest day

Hopefully this schedule for the next four weeks will really help me to get back on track after two very bad weeks and I'll start to see some decent progress again.

So this morning my scales are finally showing back in the 64kg range, which is lovely since I've been bouncing around the 65kgs for the past two weeks!

Yesterday I spent the day in university for a competition so ended up doing a bit of snacking, and finished on 1876 calories. Sunday was a good day and finished on 1214 calories. Hoping for another good day today. I've already had cereal for breakfast and a coffee and planning to have chicken pasta for dinner, and then salad for tea. I'm at work later 5-9 and planning to get an hour at the gym before hand, so taking the salad with me to have before I start. If I'm still feeling a little peckish, I've got some cup-a-soups I can have.

Didn't manage to do the 30-day-shred yesterday as my legs were still in agony (2 days later!) so going to get it done later on and then rather than any super intense cardio at the gym I'll go swimming - which is lovely and relaxing and great for gentle all over toning.

Hope everyone else has a great day today :)

RawrGirl totally understands about the Shred...she missed 2 days last week due to her calves being too sore because she forgot to stretch them out.

Haha it's painful isn't it? I got it done yesterday and today my legs feel mostly fine, though the bottom of my stomach feels a little tight (this I know is a good thing!). Think the swimming probably helped to relax them. Exercise today is going to be a walk with the dogs shortly, and then get another day done of the 30 day shred.

Food yesterday was so-so. Work schedule is akward with short shifts and finishing at nine so I ended up doing a little bit of snacking when I got home. Plus someone left mince pies in the staff room and since I feel that I've been deprived of them this year I just had to have one ^_^. Total food was 1646 calories, but still finished underneath my calorie goal due to the exercise. Today's food is the usual cereal and a coffee, and then I'm off to a friend's house tonight for a catch-up and I've said that I'll cook us both a lovely carbonara. This is usually about 600 calories so will need to find something low-cal and low-carb for dinner. I'm sure as well that she'll have bought snacks and pizza for tonight but I just have to avoid them.

Another great diary, well done. Not far from your goal now, and a fresh new year to reach it.

Your exercise regime looks solid, I can see only good things happening.

Awesome, and good luck!

Thanks Rawrgirl, the carbonara was lovely and dead simple.

For one person,

1 piece of bacon, fat cut off and chopped into pieces
75g spaghetti
1 garlic clove
1 egg
half a tbsp of cream
Italian hard cheese

Cook the spaghetti and whilst that's simmering, cook the bacon with the garlic. Once the spaghetti's done, drain it and then add the bacon, garlic, egg and cream and stir until the egg is cooked. Sprinkle through the cheese and a bit more on top when it's served. Depending on the type of cream and cheese, usual calories are between 450-500.

Thank you as well Rev, though not too sure about how solid the exercise actually is! I do usually find I go when I have an excuse to be in the vicinity of the gym. However this 30-day-shred is working really well for me at the minute as it's only taking up 25 mins a day and it goes really quick unlike some other DVD based workouts.

Yesterday was pretty much disastrous in terms of food. Ended up out all day to finish off the Christmas shopping, and so went for a Costa, Burger King and then nachos at the cinema! Did manage to sneak in a salad for my tea though haha. Finished on 2,414 calories! However, one bad day does not ruin a week of good work, and this morning the scales were very promising regarding tomorrow's weigh-in. I'm not actually going to say what they showed, as I'll no doubt jinx myself if I do, but I'm hoping that a really good day today will keep them the same or even a little less and I'll be more than chuffed with that.

Exercise yesterday was nill minus walking around town, but my legs were still killing from doing the shred two days in a row. Going to be doing the shred in a little while before dinner, and then off to work until 9 :(. Tomorrow will be gym for an hour or so in the evening and the plan now is to keep to the diet 100% as I now have no reason for being out of the house all day and needing to eat out. Christmas day is the only day I'm going to allow myself off, apart from the odd mince pie now and again of course!
