Very un-SW, but does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for a Red Velvet Cake?

Hi there!

The title pretty much says it really...I'm wondering whether anyone's got a good recipe for a red velvet cake that they've tried out and which looks nice and red?

I know it's ages away, but I want to make my mum and dad a red velvet cake for their ruby wedding anniversary next year, but I want to find a nice recipe and make sure I've tried it out a couple of times before then

Ideally I'd like to make it in one tin, rather than 2 or 3, but I can always buy more tins if needs be.

Wow what a lovely thing to make for their anniversary, but sorry I can't help I've not got a receipe or made anything like it before. I'd love to see pics when you've made it though.

Sounds lush but what exactly is Red Velvet cake?

It's a chocolate cake that's usually made with buttermilk and coloured with red food colouring to make it red. It's then covered with cream cheese frosting xx
