its a commercial thing to make people spend money and feel as though you should spend money. families who never see each other or hate each other come together at xmas cos they HAVE to whereas IF they really wanted to see each other there is all year.
I have to take time off work using MY holidays cos they shut down when i would prefer to take my holidays during the warmer times not just to sit at home all day bored crapless and having to spend money on heating cos im at home. christmas songs are rubbish, christmas films are worse, everyone overindulges even after the promise to themselves to be good..no the feast lasts for days cos they is just another box of quality street left. then everyone feels the need to start that diet in jan!

people feel the need to spend lots and lots of money which puts a lot of people in debt for the rest of the year, and only for ONE day. The amount of food that gets thrown out, puked up and generally wasted is a disgrace and how many people get presents they dont want only for them to end up in the bin. I would rather give money to charity than waste it.

and all my xmas food is coming from m and s. BF can buy it i would be happy with a turkey breast, yorkshire pud, veggies, gravy and roast parsnips in parmesan. then cheese and biscuits.
and 45 bottles of wine so NO need to go and buy 6 weeks worth of food. Oh the dogs will be having dinner too.

Home-made Christmas cards this year then... We should have a 'bad-taste Christmas card competition'. The winner gets a bag of oatbran.
(No Christmas talk until November otherwise I'll have to wash your mouth out - exception made for bad-taste Christmas card ideas, obviously).
(I love Christmas really - for 24th and 25th December - but it's toooooo early to be even thinking about it).

we got snowed in last year - so I'll be making sure we've got emergency rations as well as food for on the day....
