I wanted 50g of dried apricots (which was 1pt) today but I only had 30g worth so I looked up the pts value of prunes and it was the same so I made up the 20g with prunes. Is that ok and is it still 1pt?

Sorry for all the silly questions but I'm still getting used to WW!

That's how I would work it if things are the same points it shouldn't make much difference. It takes a while to get the hang of things but you'll be ok :)
