I'm still just about over the maximum BMI for SS, and I was a long way over it when I started. My CDC never really mentioned it - but did start me on 4 products a day, which is nearly SS+. (Actually, if your BMI is over 40 you should be on the 810 plan).
I'm so relieved that she did that: if I'd had to deal with food, I wouldn't have stuck 100% to this diet for the last 11 weeks and I wouldn't have lost close to 3 stone. Interestingly, Cambridge themselves only introuduced the rule that people over BMI 40 mustn't SS or SS+ earlier this year. Many, many of the success stories you'll read on minimins involve people starting well over that and SS / SS+ing all the way to goal.
I wouldn't advise you to go against the Cambridge rules, which are there to protect our health. Just telling you what I did.
