WHat to use instead of breadcrumbs for topping?

Tonight i am going to make macaroni cheese for dinner - saving up all my Hex's for a lovely cheesy comforting treat - and I was wondering what to put on top to give it a bit of crisp? Obviously I could use breadcrumbs as a B choice but we only have some rolls in and I also want to save the B choice for extra cheese!

I seem to recall people using cous cous or something in place of breadcrumbs? Does anyone have any other ideas for a nice SW-friendly (ideally Free!) crispy topping for my mac and cheese?

Maybe syn a bag of crisps? That works on pasta bakes......

I know this sounds really strange but the instant mashed potato you can buy but sprinkle on in it's powder consistency.

I use it with herbs and dices mixed in to make crispy chicken ( the recipe is on here) so might work quite well as a topping instead of breadcrumbs?
