    Diary of a binge eater.

My OH also doesn't know the extent of the problem. Tried telling him once that eating often makes me feel 'high' (which it does - a bit floaty, like the edge has been taken off everything), which is why it was easy to eat more because it gave me such a good feeling. I don't think he really...

    Diary of a binge eater.

I'm also a mixture between 2 and 3 I think. Although there are emotions that will cause me to eat (boredom and relief mostly), I don't think I've suffered some trauma that I'm trying to cope with by eating. That's also why I'm skeptical about how much therapy will help. Am still doing a lot of...

    Diary of a binge eater.

I started having breakfast again and it's amazing the difference it makes. I'm not half as hungry when I get home in the evenings which does curb the urge a lot. Having said that, this week has not been so great for me, but today I am starting over.

Tried to distract myself for a while by watching TV. Turns out that does not work. Neither does playing around on the computer.

    Diary of a binge eater.

What does everyone do to stave off a binge when they feel it coming on? I binged last night. Nights are always the WORST, most vulnerable time for me.

    Diary of a binge eater.

I heard recently that literally/physically pushing away the food that you want to eat can sometimes help reduce the temptation to eat it. Something about a physical reinforcement of what you are already telling yourself to do mentally. Kel if you come across any techniques, please let us know.

How are you doing today sweets? Please don't give up, you'll feel 10x worse afterwards. I had a binge on Thursday night and I felt wracked with guilt the whole of yesterday. It's not worth it.

    Propoints for coffee and tea

Does anyone use their propoints for coffee and tea? I guess it depends on how much milk and sugar you use. I use less than 50ml milk per cup and 1tsp of sugar. I count one propoint. Is that correct?

    PP filling lunch ideas/suggestions???

I eat pasta salads often (7pp for a satisfying portion). Pasta really helps bulk up the meal. Pasta 7pp courgette with garlic fried in 1 tsp of oil (1pp) cocktail tomatoes 30g of smoked salmon 1 pp fresh chopped coriander makes a divine pasta salad. Have recently started eating wholegrain...

Do you use your points for coffee and tea?

I recently started WW again with the ProPoints system (online) and discovered that 1tsp of sugar is worth one point. Since this discovery I have been setting aside 3 points a day specifically for the 3 cups of coffee I have per day. Is anyone else doing this? On the old system, 1 tsp of sugar...

Has anyone heard of hedonic hunger? Are We Slaves to Hedonic Hunger? | Psych Central I learnt about it recently and think it goes a long way to explain (at least some of) my binge eating behaviour. I have often felt like I am on a high after a binge and, as it turns out, I probably am. Only...

Is there anyone in the world who manages to drink 2 litres of water a day???

Thanks everyone for replying. I am currently managing 7 glasses of water a day in addition to tea and coffee, so I think I'm doing ok. I thought tea and coffee didn't count because they are diuretics. Luckily I like water, so that at least is not the problem. It's more the constant...

Is there anyone in the world who manages to drink 2 litres of water a day???

I recently made a commitment to get back on track with my weightloss.. Obviously that entails upping my water intake. So far I have managed 1.75 litres of water 2 days running. But I am drinking ALL THE TIME. (and when I'm not drinking, I'm on the loo ;-)) Is there anyone who can manage the...

    Diary of a binge eater.

Aaaannnnnnnnd... After 1 week I have lost 300g (just less than a pound). It's not great, but I figure that since I also celebrated New Year's it's not too bad. And if nothing else, it's a start.

    Diary of a binge eater.

The important thing is that it works! I think everyone is different and different things work for different people. I am trying the alternate day thing because there is evidence that by fasting every second day you can kick start a gene called SIRT-1 which dramatically increases longevity and...

Have you heard of the alternate day diet? Every second day, you get to eat whatever you want! I think it's this (freedom every second day) that makes me want to see if I can make this diet work long term.

Hi Flabtofit, here are some of the reasons to keep the weight off (as per "Eating less - say goodbye to overeating" by Gillian Riley and "The alternate day diet" by James B. Johnson): "Whether you recognise it or not, everytime you make a choice about eating there is an effect on your...

    Coping strategies for New Year's

I am looking for tips on how to cope with this evening's excess of food and drink. So far I have: 1. Exercised till I drop to build up a calorie reserve. 2. Made sure that I have some healthy dishes available as well (dinner is at my house). What else should I be doing? Does anyone have some...

    Diary of a binge eater.

This is exactly what happened to me. I went for my WI and my coach said, "You can stop now." And at that precise moment it felt like something snapped in my head and I haven't seen that weight since. I know I said I maintained for two years in an earlier post, but I maintained a weight that was...
  31. BingoBango

    Diary of a binge eater.

I maintained for 2 years. What worked for me was to weigh myself weekly and immediately take measures to lose the weight if I saw the scales creeping up. It's much easier to get rid of 500g than it is to get rid of 2kgs. Well that's the theory anyway. With my binge eating it wasn't (isn't) so...

Kel86, I hide it most of the time. I will wait until hubby has gone to have a bath and then I'll let go. Or if I'm home alone I might even pop down the shop and stock up on everything bad. Diary of a binge eater.

I am a binge eater too and it drives me mad. I do well on WeightWatchers the whole week, see the result on the scales and promptly sabotage my progress by eating everything in sight.
