10 Weigh In's to GSR2013

Morning,
Been to see a running specialist friend who's been on many courses regarding running injuries.

He put me through some stretches & has advised me not to do any running, jumping or weightlifting exercises for 2-3 weeks but I can do Rowing & Cycling starting from next weekend. I've also ordered a couple of Calf Supports which I will use with the bio freeze cream.

Oh and I woke up yesterday morning with gout but I know why....Diet!!

Bin,
2lb is 2lb, easy on, easy off....
One strict week & that will come right back off!!

I jumped on scales this morning & it's showing an 8lb increase :-(!!
I need to sort that out & more before the run!!

I hope you got through yesterday as well as can be!!

4 WEEKS TO GO, TIME TO GET MOVING (or just get fit enough to run)!!

Well WI tonight and put 6.5lb on in two weeks!!!

Just got my running vest back, after being enlarged by a friends Mum....

Looks great considering she's had to make a large a XXXL so it's not rubbing!!

My leg is feeling better but still going to rest it from running for another week (even if I really want to go for a run)....

Hope you guys are getting on better....

3 WI & just under 4 weeks to go!!

Sadly not - I am going to have to defer my place unfortunately :'( Really poorly at the moment - Gary the phantom gallbladder is continuing to cause me a lot of problems, and right now I am trying to dodge a hospital admission let alone do anything constructive in the way of training. GP wants me in hospital, but I have job interviews tomorrow and Wednesday and I really do not want to miss those! I also have hospital appointments on Wednesday and Thursday, so fingers crossed one of those may be able to shed some light on what is going on, or offer some constructive pain management at the very least! It hurts to breathe in too deeply, so as you can imagine, running is out of the question. Need to work out if there is a way of refunding sponsorship through Just Giving???

Morning.

Gav pleased your leg is feeling better, good idea to leave it another week before you start any sort of running. The Great South Run for most people is all about taking part and raising money for charities not how fast you can do it in, so even if you walk part of the course it does not matter at least you will have done it.

I still have not started running again looking at doing a short distance possibly Thursday see how the calf holds up so fingers crossed, have got plenty of that freeze spray for run day!

I have not done too good on the diet front this week am sure some more has gone on, not sure if I really want to go to weigh in this week.
Have been helping Mum move, she actually moved in to her new home yesterday so it has been a case of eating at strange times and just grabbing what she has got in not always healthy!!

Sorry you have got to defer your place Starlit_Cazza, I hope the hospital can find out what is causing the problem sort it out and get you pain free.

Good luck with the interviews.

Have a good Tuesday

Well done. It's not going well here. Feeling rather unwell. Nearly fainted earlier. Went to see Consultant who conducted a rather unpleasant procedure, but continues to draw a blank as to the cause of my problems. He also wants me to be admitted. Dug my heels in but may have to concede defeat and get admitted at some point :( He has given me his direct number so if I do feel I need to go in then I can call him and he will get me a bed. I have an appointment with the Pain Clinic in the morning, kind of depends what they say as to what happens next!

Oh dear doesn't sound good....

Maybe being admitted giving them the opportunity to carry out lots of tests may be beneficial, but not very pleasant....

Hope it gets sorted & soon!!

Morning Gav

Well done on getting it back, your diary looks really nice and healthy.
Wish I could get it back, at the moment motivation has gone out the window, really must give myself a good kick up the backside!!

Pleased to say Mum is in her new place and apart from some furniture moving and the odd box to still unpack she seems ok. My friends dogs have gone home so my house has returned to normality! Have got my sister in laws dog coming on Sunday for a week but she is no trouble a real sweetheart.

Am going to have gentle jog on treadmill today, see how leg does. Can not believe it is only 3 weeks away:eek: Then the week after we are going to Australia, to see my son who moved out there in January and my step daughter and son in law who emigrated 4 years ago.

Good luck with the diet and the training those calf supports sound like a good idea.

Have a good Thursday

Evening Bin,

Mmmmm those calf supports didn't do the trick, my calf's felt better but they still went tight!!

Booked an appointment with Gary Sadler ex-Pompey Physio on Monday to see what can be done....

Glad all of the moving is complete & hope you get back on the diet/training soon!!

Australia will be nice this time of year, we have friends out there & hope to go out when girls are older....

Morning Gav

Good luck with the physio, he should be able to give you some good advice, are you a Pompey FC supporter? Shame about the calf supports they sounded like a really good idea.

I managed a very gentle training run yesterday on treadmill, am pleased to say the leg held up a little painful at times but I did not push it. Afterwards I put ice on both legs and did plenty of stretches to warm down, so fingers crossed. Am going to do another couple on treadmill then have a run outside which will be the real test.

Am determined now to get back on plan and stick to it.

Australia is lovely we went out in 2011 to see my step daughter, my youngest son went out to visit her fell in love with the country and went out in January. He still lived at home so it was really emotional when he left, the house seemed so quiet and empty! Where do your friends live, step daughter is just outside Sydney and my son is Byron Bay on the border of Queensland and NSW. I know my eldest son would move there as well if he could, so many opportunities out there especially for younger people.

Hope you have a good day, doing anything special over weekend?

Hi Bin,

Yes I'm a Portsmouth Fc fan as I've worked at the club on match days for 14 years so you can't help but support them....

My first team was Liverpool Fc but can't get to many games, so I follow them from afar....

Glad your calf seemed ok, sounds a bit like mine really as I had no pull but very tight....

My friends lived just south of Sydney but have recently moved but not sure where to other than still close to Sydney....

I'd move out there tomorrow but the Mrs wouldn't, as she's a home person....

As for this weekend, I worked tonight & got football at PFC tomorrow then training Sunday (Rowing/Cycling)....

Have a good weekend!!

Gav

Morning Gav,

Your food diaries look really good, I am back on track, just got to stay there I have such small losses that I get really disheartened and think what's the point and reach for the biscuits!! Must stay focused.

Hope you are still going to talk to me ...... I am a Saints season ticket holder! Have followed them up and down the leagues, don't get to away matches now but we used to go to a lot in the championship and league 1. Chelsea was my first team but like you could never get up to watch them. I also have a soft spot for Cheltenham town who are in league 2. My son became Saints supporter when he was 13 so started going to games with him. We have got Swansea at home tomorrow.

Hoping to do another gentle run tonight on treadmill then maybe Monday do a run outside. 3 weeks tomorrow, it has come round so fast.

Have got work today, gentle run this evening, tomorrow catch ferry over to Southampton for the football.

Have a good weekend and hope both our teams have good wins.

Morning Bin,

Well my Diet was going well until yesterday & it went bang big style, so no Diary as the Syn's would have been a months worth!!
Scrap yesterday, so it's now a 6 day week....

As for supporting those up the road, we'll just stick to talking about SW & GSR and not football, that's the safest bet I think....

My make or break moment is tomorrow at the Physio's, should be running an 8 miler today & a 9 miler next week before lowering my distance, I'd struggle to power walk those distances at the moment....

Bumped into a friend who's been training for the GSR yesterday & he's damaged his quads and is out of the run. He'd been training for time and was down to 1hr 25min for the course, he's gutted but if I can't run we've agreed to walk it together!!

The wife's Mum is not well so she's going to stay with them for a few days to help out & I'm preparing to be home alone for 3 days with my girls....Gonna be Fun!!

Hope your run went ok last night & your back on track!!

Gavin

Fingers crossed it goes ok with the physio. I'm not doing too good. Diet gone to pot, signed off work, and not feeling terribly well physically or mentally right now. Suffering serious pain issues still and started on morphine tablets. Unfortunately mood is mirroring physical health and is terrible. Being referred to pain specialist over in Southampton as QA doctors are at a bit of a loss! Oh and my bloody hair is falling out in handfuls. Smashing. Sorry very grumpy post from me!

Hi Cazza,

Thank You....

I'm sorry to hear your still suffering I more ways than one!!

I hope they get to the bottom of your problem & soon. Is that hospital a specialist?

Might be an idea to speak to Dr about how your feeling....:-(

I've been at a low point several times in my life & wouldn't wish that on anybody....

Is the hair falling out due to medication your on or is stress more likely??

Get Well Soon, Big Hug!!

Gav
