Hey folks, so I have been upping and downing for the last 5 years but I've managed to stay at 11 stones 7 (ish) lb for the last year or so!
I am determined to now sort my life out, that includes the chubby middle aged woman I have become. Being 5ft 2" I'm still overweight and need to lose another stone I reckon, so I have the Slimpod package, I own these and I know I do well with low carb, so logical me, I'm combining the 2 because I haven't felt more like myself than 13 years ago when I wrote my diary on here losing 3 and a half stone on the dukan diet. I really believe that is how we are meant to eat as human beings. But if you don't folks, then please don't come for me, that's just my opinion.

So today: 21st May 2025
Bit of a boring day food wise but getting into the swing of low carb again and trying to encourage that ketosis to kick in.

Breakfast: x2 boiled eggs. 50g ham. 30g cheddar cheese

Lunch: x2 boiled eggs. 30g cooked ham. 30g cheddar cheese.

Dinner: x2 boiled eggs. 30g cooked ham. 30g cheddar cheese.

So a bit repetitive πŸ˜† (not much πŸ€”πŸ™„) but I'm not hungry, it's now 10.16pm and I feel alright, a tiny bit of achy muscles on my right shoulder, but aside from that all good in the hood.
So what else have I been up to today?
Not much to report for day 1 to be fair, I sat and watched the documentary called "Carb Loaded" on Plex (UK) this morning whilst eating my breakfast and it kind of cemented the idea that I'm on the right path.
I know it's not going to be easy, but I do have a reason behind all of this.
So my OH got diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last month, which was a bit of a shock to us 😳 and totally c*ap! Tbh left us both feeling a bit out of sorts and ne like Whoa we are getting old!
And my mind went back to how good I felt 13 years ago when we met, yes I was a fair bit younger, but I was also in my prime i think, because I was on the Dukan Diet and I've never felt more human than in that time period. So I need that mojo right now, my OH needs to see how good that is and join in. Well that's my thinking any way. Hopefully he will. Luckily the cancer is metastatic and tiny so we have caught it early and with Prostate cancer guys live long and fulfilling lives all whilst having it. So the treatment plan at the moment is active surveillance and in the future any treatment will be aimed at curing the cancer. So not a prognosis that is horrendous but still not something expected for him at the age of 52.
So after watching that documentary this morning, I thought I'm a little bit tired and thinking how switching from carb laden food to low carb can make you feel rubbish at first, I might as well take that nap I want and start on some self care early On, Why not? So I did.
After my sleep, I got sorted, and picked up my OH granddaughter from school, she lives with us full time, she's 5 and been with us since she was 2 so very much part of our fam-a-lam. There's 4 here in the mad-house my youngest who is 18, he's a full on nerd πŸ€“ πŸ˜† of the highest order, me, OH and granddaughter.
So had a nice chilled out day.
I'm just about to sit down and start a new crochet project, very exciting! A new super soft black grey and white cardigan for myself. So watch this space. I think the crocheting will help with not wanting to pick snacky foods in the evening. I'm only looking to start it tonight, nothing major just begin because that will give me the push, I've had the wool about 2 months, I like to do this, buy everything for a new project and then take ages to actually start it! πŸ˜†
That's me ...
So driven! πŸ˜†

So day one complete, roll on day 2!

See ya Tomorrow folks!
Big love ❀️

Hello - welcome back! Nice to see another Podder on here (and another shorty - we're the same height and currently the same weight!)

I have absolute respect for low carb, but weirdly it doesn't work for me! That said, I do find I prefer complex carbs these days (my lentils probably also seem a bit repetitive to a lot of people!) Totally recognise that it's different strokes for different folks, and it's brilliant that you've found what works for you.

I wish I had the patience for crochet! I've tried a few times, and along with knitting, we just don't seem to get on well!

Sorry to hear about your OH, but good that it was caught early. Your attitude and outlook sounds very positive though. My father was diagnosed a couple of years ago, and you are right about it being less "life limiting" than other forms.

Look forward to following your journey.

Hi folks,
I haven't gone on the missing list, my OH has whisked me away for the bank holiday weekend, we left last night.
I'm still sticking to low carb.
That's one thing that is a bonus with being able to eat meat, you can get it everywhere.
So we haven't gone far, just to the coast in our fair land of Kent. But down towards and past Margate to the prettier bits of the old Garden of England.
I'll report back once I'm home on Tuesday
Stay cool people ✌️

Welcome back, Shar and thanks for the life update. Sorry to hear your OH's news - but glad it's caught early. I'm on Mounjaro and low carb. I don't count anything.

That's what I love too the no counting, so much easier we had an Indian take away last night I just had chicken and lamb pieces πŸ˜‹ and some spinach and cheese without any thickeners or anything added. Was lovely 😍 thanks for the comments about the OH yes it was a shock but like Torn Tranquility agreed with above its not as life limiting as it could have been. One thing that's positive from this is we have decided to put us first for a bit as we always feel guilty for swanning off and doing our own thing, not this bank holiday weekend though we have had a lovely time, I've eaten so much sea food and walked along the stunning beaches just enjoying life ❀️❀️❀️

So I'm back, have had a glorious weekend, and caught lovely tan , even though the weather was a little hit and miss, I'm one of them people who can smother themselves in factor 50 sun cream and still catch a really dark tan on a cloudy day. My family come from Spain and Peru so have great genetics for that golden skin.
So I've weighed myself on my return and I've lost 5lb down to 11st 2lb and I've eaten some lovely food this weekend.
I am going to definitely carry on eating sea food and having lots to hand because when your peckish there is nothing better than a little pot of cockles covered in black pepper and vinegar or prawns they are a great little snack.
One thing I did treat myself to as well was a small serving of walnuts and chilli flakes πŸ˜‹ one of my ultimate favourite snacks.
I also listened to my Slimpod every day, I fitted it in when I was getting ready for the evening or in the morning I find it really does help me.

So 5lb down and super happy.
How's everyone else's bank holiday going

Glad you had a lovely time. Jealous of the seafood!

Hah I know what you mean about tanning easily. People keep asking where I've been on holiday... Nowhere! I just walk a lot, so I'm out in it.

Lovely BH thanks
Played in a rugby festival on Saturday, lunch with the in-laws yesterday, then a 16 mile hike today. Now rushing back as I have dance class booked.

I'm sorry did you say a 16 mile hike? Wow now that is impressive. I've just completed the 62 miles in May for the charity Refuge. I felt super proud of myself for walking about 3 to 4 miles a day, but 16 mile hikes makes my 3 miles a day look like babies milk πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚ check you out!
What dance class do you do? I've always fancied Salsa but haven't been brave enough to go.
I'm glad you have had a nice bank holiday, and yes the seafood was lovely 😍 back to the humdrum today! Roll on Summer! 🌞

So Tuesday 27th May.
Well all back to normal today, the OH is back at work, working nights so I'm enjoying having the TV remote and cosying up on the sofa with a blanket and a nice cuppa tea.
Granddaughter is with her mum as its the holidays, and my youngest is back from Comicon think he's tired himself out cos he's back upstairs in his room chilling out, doing the teenager thing, what ever that may be! .... I don't really wanna know πŸ˜† !!!
So food

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes.

Lunch: pork with awesome crispy fat and beef jerky

Dinner: cod, keto sausage with pickled eggs.

Dinner was actually delicious all be it a strange combination.

So plodding along, just about to listen to the Slimpod and get my head down for the night.

Until tomorrow, big love ❀️

hah yes, I do quite a lot of long distance walking. But then I average 20k steps a day, anyway! I do On Broadway Dance Fitness: so we learn a new routine every week, from a musical. It's so much fun, and nobody takes it very seriously.

Wow now that is a lot of walking! And you and my son would get on very well with the Broadway dance fitness. He's at college at the moment studying performing arts and just did a musical dance show, me and my OH went out was brilliant. I'll add a pic of his flyer he was in almost every scene, Not as serious as his big shows but was still very good.
And whether it's taken super serious or not your moving and enjoying yourself and that is the main thing!
Love it πŸ˜€ 😍

So what have I been up to today, err nothing πŸ˜† so I'll just get on with the food

Breakfast: fry beef strips and scrambled eggs

Lunch: egg, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes,

Dinner: (my take on) chilli beef with peanuts and very thin egg and cream cheese omelette wraps.

Got to say dinner was delicious and I'm super full which is why after this, I'm going to bed. πŸ˜†

NIGHT FREAKS
STAY COOL 😎
