A good cry

Candlewix

Down boy!
An overwhelming sense of futility suddently crept up on me Sunday.
This is the second time for me on CD, I lost 3 stones previously, gained in all back.
Over the weekend I cooked a slow roast shoulder of pork for hubby ( he requested) imagine the smell of that all day. I also did my home made potato salad, a speciality. Whilst making it I thought, if I wasn't doing CD I would dish him up a portion and then polish off the rest of the huge bowl later. Its as though I'm 'in prison' and as soon as I get back the key I am afraid I'm just going to go straight back to that ghastly pattern of feast and fast!!
So I sat down and blubbed my eyes out
How do I know I'm going to succeed this time? I hate being fat (actually obese I think its called) I'm turning into a recluse because of it!
Has anyone out there lost and maintained? I am hell bent to stick with this until I'm goal weight this time, its just the afterward that worries me :wave_cry:

I think its rough. One of my biggest fear doing SS is that I will eat even more when 'off' the diet. I do think this diet is all about losing weight fast and like the rest of you I want that too. I have struggled with weight loss though I only have 27 pounds to lose I have lost 60 already and it goes on and on. Doesn't matter what I weigh there is still more to lose and body shape issues. All diets work but often we don't work. It is never about the actual food but what it represents.

I'm not the best person at the moment to help as I'm on a negative road but we must go on and on..... I'm waiting for the on to turn off eventually!

A good cry helps maybe if we all cried more we wouldn't eat????

aww sad to hear ppl feel like this and i say that because thats how i have felt for the last 6 years...its a hard old road but definatly worth it, i have so many issues up and down with my weight and it has worked but then i gained and done that over and over several times..this time though is defiantly the last my head is in the right place now and i feel i will do it, i have decided when i am at goal(which wont be for awhile yet) i am going to go to either sw or ww to maintain just for the control of it as if i am left on my own to do my own thing i will just be back to the start in no time! i hope you feel better soon and deal with the emotions, i am on day 1 and so far so good, together we can do this :) xx good luck

Thanks sammyzip50 & louiseb78

I know its crazy what we put ourselves through.
I was slim until I got to about 45 and from there on its been downhill ( 56 now). I have tried other diets, but because of the painfully slow loss I gave up too easily. I think because I was slim before I am ashamed people will gasp at seeing what a fatty I turned out to be...ugh!
Anyway went for a 3 mile walk on Sunday and am feeling better now. I guess if we want to be slim we have to put in the WORK. I suppose my mom was right when she said you have to suffer to beautiful...hey maybe I'm rebelling...hmmm...just a thought.
Well, nothing is easy. This is the real test!
Am feeling better today...even though I went to my little pity party I never even THOUGHT of going off track.
So here's to a better new me :)

Just remember how great it feels to be thinner. And remember that feeling you get as the smaller size clothes start to fit and how it feels when someone says to you, "you look great, have you lost weight?".

"Nothing taste as good as being thin feels."

Oh sweetie - losing iweight if your headspace is wrong, is hard. Really, really hard. Climbing everest in high heels hard.

in the past, your headspace obviously wasn't right - and there's nothing to be gained from beating yourself up about that. All you can do is keep trying, and that's what you are doing - hurrah!

It takes so much courage to start this. you should be really proud of yourself.

there are maintainers. a number of them post here, but by minimins' nature, most people who maintain don't need to be here. instead you see the restarters. but that doesn't mean you have to be one. try to think positive. xxx

"Nothing taste as good as being thin feels." ...really like that Sadie.
It's totally true, I remember when I lost the 3 stone how my pyjamas fell off me and I could finally get my lovely winter jacket on!!
Thanks ladies...you reminded me why I'm putting myself through this again...heck I just cranked up my determination handle.
One day at a time hey? When I get to goal weight then I will concern myself with maintenence :)

Ooo Sammy we are the same weight starting and you have lost 60lbs already!! Very inspiring...and true true, a good old howl clears out the pipes...haha. Thanks again :D

Sorry you feel this way - but I think lots of us do.

For me - I need a plan. I believe that maintenance will be a lot more difficult for me than losing the weight. And believe me.....it's been a long journey!

I decided back in January (when I started SS) that given my struggles with weight, I will not get to a stage where I can eat freely - and maintain my losses. So I picked an eating plan that will adapt to my life, not feel too restrictive, but allow me to monitor my food intake and maintain my weight. I chose SW.

After 3 weeks on SS, I became obsessed with FOOD PORN (food tv shows/sniffing other people's food/food prep websites - I know VERY WEIRD!!)
I then started to put this weird habit to good use! I start trawling the internet and SW area on minimins for receipes of food for when I started eating. I typed them all up, and I know have pages and pages of SW food menu's for when I start eating!

Due to ill health I had to stop SS after 97days, and I managed to maintain most of my losses without it feeling like I was deprived.
I'm now back on SS, and will be moving to SW for the month of December. Although, for me, the losses are too small and inconsistent for me to lose weight - it's perfect for maintaining.

I feel like I have planned to succeed in my next part of my weightloss journey - the difficult part!

My personal opinion is - leaving thinking about maintenance to when you're at goal - you'll always be on the back foot. I feel really prepared and ready for the challenge. I appreciate this isn't for everyone - but for me it seems to work. Others do better by dealing with one step at a time. This just isn't for me.

Whatever you decide - good luck! This is your journey - it will develop how you want - not copying the route of anyone else's journey!

:8855:Ha ha Jayellekay....food porn....that's exactly what it is!! :eating:

Hi Candlewix,

I had the exact same worry so I spoke to a maintainer on here about it. Here is the response I got from her. Summerskye has now been maintaining for a while and hasn't put the weight back on great inspiration hope this helps xx

"Hi Mishie

First of all really well done on your losses so far. You're doing brilliantly!

Please don't worry about regaining all the weight you're losing when you reintroduce food again. Your consultant will guide you through the various Steps as you approach your target and discuss with you how you'll reduce the number of packs you have and the type of foods to introduce at each step. As long as you follow your consultant's advice and stick to the step programme the way it's designed to be followed there's no reason why you will ever regain your weight.

I tell all my clients that the only sure way of regaining weight after a diet (any diet) is to go back to your old habits. As long as you change your eating habits and make sensible choices there's no reason why you can't be slim and healthy for ever :)

Good luck!
