Advice please ... a week away from my Town

Hi all,

Sorry to be starting yet another thread.

I'm really worried about something and finally decided to get it off my chest (sounds a little dramatic)

I have a week away in Luton (anyone from around there, whats it like...where is it??? lol)

It is for a weeks training for my work. I have a hotel room booked for me with food all paid for, ready and waiting for me.

Now, my aim is to get to at LEAST 10 stone by September the 8th. I'm currently 12st 9lbs (although to be honest I was 12st 10lbs until I took my belt off and re-weighed!)

There will be about 10 other people in the same position, no one is going to know each other and I've been told by the girls in my office that they go out most nights to get to know each other (drinking etc..) and have meals together.

Now its gone over and over in my mind how I'm going to cope with this situation. I'm really scared I wont fit in or something and a night with a bit of alcohol with help the nerves as bad as that may sound.

How much do any of you lovely people think this will mess up the diet?

I'm really gutted about it because its even my 21st at the end of the month, and I'm prepared to diet on my big day...yet something like this pops up and ruins all my plans :(

Any advice will be much appreciated

P.s. I'm also considering the food thing. I don't want to be explaining to new people about the diet etc, 80% of the people I've told don't understand and aren't really willing to attempt understanding. x

Luton is about a 15 min drive away from me, it's OK, nothing special, you don't have to expain yourself to the others on the training, but to get out of the drinking just tell them your on antibiotics and can't!

When is the course and have you started on ss yet?

I know exactly what you mean about this sort of thing - that's the nature of them - you spend the evenings in the bar putting the world to rights and bonding!
 
:thankyou: smoorecats I might use that excuse. Its just a bit difficult the socialising side. I've never done anything like this before, I'm really worried about it. Its pretty close to you then! Lol, I don't want to go, I really don't. Just can't wait till its out the way. Its right before my birthday - I'm not looking forward to that now haha!

Hi hels :wavey: thats exactly it, the bonding and all! and because no one knows each other alcohol would be a god send for sure. Yep I started SS on 10th May, I restarted again on Wednesday after a week off (went to Glasto but stuck to chicken...wasn't really THAT bad). The course is on 15th but I'm heading down there on the 14th (scary!)

Sounds like it's going to be really hard. You are doing the right thing by trying to plan ahead instead of just going and having a week off the diet.

Do you think it would be possible to stick as closely to 790 as possible while you are away? You may remain in ketosis if you dont over do it and that will make it so much easier to get back onto SS when you get back.

You've got another two weeks yet before you go. you could have another 1/2 stone off in that time which will put you over half way to target. It would be such a shame to ruin all your hard work by eating and drinking whatever is put in front of you during the week.

The antibiotics thing will be fine for getting round the alcohol, and if you try to stick to protein based meals for your dinner, and have a shake before you go to take the edge off your appetite you should be ok.

You got through glastonbury OK without piling the pound back on, so you CAN do this. THink positive.
 
i lived in luton for 30years
its not to bad
where abouts are you staying

it has a nice shopping centre
can be a bit rough but i think most places have parts where you dont venture at night lol

I go to training sessions quite a bit, and you'd be surprised by howm any people don't drink! I have never drunk (just the occasional glass of wine at weddings etc) and often find i'm not the only one that doesn't!

You could use the antibiotics thing and also say that as you have been unwell, your appetite is poor, so maybe skip dinner and meet in the bar afterwards for a glass of sparkling water?
Just an idea... it's hard isn't it?

Why not go on 790 for a week. That way you can join in the meals without having to leave half your food every night.
As for the drinking... get to the bar early and ask for a sparkling water. If anyone asks what you're drinking tell them it's gin/vodka and tonic...who's to know? If they offer to buy you a drink say you don't want to go on rounds because your skint, or that you've got one in!!
