Hi, I know we should try to cut out Alcohol altogether when we are trying to lose weight but for special occasions.

Can anyone advise on rare occasions when we are out, what people have been drinking and still losing or what they think is the best thing to drink.

I've been thinking along the lines of vodka with soda water or sparkling water, white wine or white wine spritzer. Normally I drink cider and think this is definitely out if I want to lose weight:cry:...

You've pretty much nailed it there. Go for spirits with soda water or slimline minerals. Wine is a good option too. Personally, I stick to wine but limit it to three or four glasses. Apart from the calories in the alcohol it can weaken your defences and lead to the munchies especially the day after!!!!!
Any of the GL books I have read advise severely cutting back during the weightloss phase of your diet and to have it in moderation in maintenance phase.
