Ambrosia rice pudding......strange

I brought a snack sized pot of this for working, thinking it would be lower on green days, but it's not, red and green day syn value are the same....surely on green it should be less because it contains rice.....puzzled!!!!!
150g pot (low fat version) 7 syns on all three plans...:confused:
Also the low fat verison has the same syns as the normal version.... :confused::confused::confused:
seen this before with Cadbury's trifles....how odd

Most of the syns will be from the milk/cream and sugar the amoutn of rice would be negligble.

Many low fat things are as high in syns as the regular oens as companies add more sugar to get the flavour close to full fat version. You could make your own rice pudding that would be free with milk, pudding rice and sweeetner
 
Good post Derbynanny. I watched a TV programme on this issue specifically and several insiders in the food industry pointed that same issue - the adding of extra sugar to make the reduced fat food more palatable. That's why some (although of course not all) low fat products actually have more calories than their full fat counterparts because all of the added sugar...
