Any SW wine lushes out there.....

so glad to see this thread, wine has been my syns downfall quite a bit since starting sw..and the associated beer snax! Now using soda to make a longer drink and really not missing out or going over too much. Have managed to stay off the beardy beers though, which I was shocked to see syn values for. Does anyone have any good ideas for low syn drinking snacks??;)

Sounds good! Although I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to dilute or in any other way adulterate my lovely red wine!!

Regarding snackage there's Velvet Crunch crisps, which are 4 syns a bag, and there were also some ideas in this month's magazine, like Mikado sticks (0.5 syn each), Low calorie jelly pot (0.5), Quorn light bites (0.5 per pack), Skinny Cow ice cream lolly in triple choc brownie or mint double choc (4.5) Marmite cereal bars (4.5)...

It might sound a bit mad/weird/crazy, but if I want a snack in the evening I generally just bung one of those little bags of ready prepared brussels sprouts in the microwave, douse with salt and dig in... although I do realise this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea!!!!!

It's soooo wrong but I've had the best Sunday. Eight bottles of red later and seven hours in the pub and a luxury lunch for a friends birthday.

kettle broke!

Well after my post this morning 'confession time' - my kettle broke (set on fire to be precise).
So i've boiled some water and milk and i'm having a yummy options hot chocolate as my evening drink tonight.
This weeks wine consumption was definately a blip.
Just been reading through todays posts and i'm feeling more normal and less guilty now i know i'm not alone.
PT made me sweat it out this morning and she's back for another gruelling exercise session tomorrow after work.

Hiiiyaaaa

Please may i join in here?? I am certainly a wine lush. My biggest downfall is a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc - or maybe a Cabernet Sauuv or Merlot, or Shiraz ha ha ha!

I'm re-starting SW and trying to do it alone as i just cannot stand the Consultant at my nearest group (we moved here in November - and i LOVED my last group!) my old consultant was a bit of a lush too so it was pretty handy to get her texts when she knew i'd be cracking open another bottle ;))

You have made me feel better now pinktink lol. I've probably had the same plus a stunning cheese board and half a lobster slathered in garlic butter yesterday.

FFS! I need to knuckle down. My holiday will be here before I know it and I'll still be a size 16!

Guys I'm giving up wine for lent! I'm scared but I know I can do it! It'll be a challenge but that's the whole point . :)

So, tonight I'm using some of my weekly syns to have a bottle (plus another glass, cough cough lol) due to the fact that from tomorrow there will be no wine for me for 43 days!

Blimey good luck!!!!

I don't do lent. I was dragged up catholic so it all seems a bit hypocritical for myself (not others) as I class myself as agnostic these days.
I've just been invited out for dinner this thurs and next fri lol.

Well I have just had three glasses of Pinot! They were bloody lovely! Don't have weigh in this week as I am away on business. Oh room service = wine with dinner! Oh well.....back on the wagon next week!

I've just finished my first glass of pinot for the evening. My last this evening will be my last for the whole of Lent! Trying to savour every mouthful and trust me every mouthful will be worth every syn.

I'm also giving up wine for lent - along with all other kinds of alcohol!
Have just opened a lovely btl of Pinot and will savour the taste, hopefully be good example to kids and a boost to my weightloss.

We can do this Ellie!
:-D

aw yay! Let's do this!!! :bliss:

Hey Applekath, found your thread!!! I understand now why my diary struck a chord with you!!! Socialising is my downfall too!!! I'm not one to drink on my own but I live in a large household with lot's of social people who enjoy a drinkypoo or five....and that's before friends popping in with a bottle of wine about their person or going out at the weekend!!! It sounds rubbish to moan about it, because on the face of it it's bliss but not if your trying to be good!! And as much as you try too have a soft drink or fool yourself into thinking you are having an alcoholic beverage there is nothing worse (personally!!) than being in a social situation with a group of friends slightly lubricated by a few drinks...and your sober as a judge!! I know that isn't probably the right thing to say and I know as an intelligent person that it will slow down my weight loss just like over eating will but the reality is.....I have cracked the overeating thanks to SW. I am allowing myself a night's drinking a week and certainly no more than two and only if we have a social event!! On average it would have been at least three or four nights a week so I am moderating......this diet for me is a lifestyle change, I have at five stone to lose so it's at least a years committment to get to target. At the moment I am losing on average 1.5lb a week....when that stops I will re assess my alcohol content, alongside things like portion size and my level of activity. Some people sit and eat cake to feel happy....we sit with friends and have a glass of wine or a G and T to feel happy!!
Is the First Cape wine that is mentioned on this thread the cheap bottle that you can buy from Tesco....if so the white is very sweet..almost a perry....I didn't like it, it might be o.k with soda? The red wasn't as bad if I remember although we did use it for mulled wine!!! I'd really like it if I was wrong and some one has found a drinkable wine that's only 14syns a bottle!!!! Thanks for being brave enough to start this thread.....there are lot's of us out there and it's nice not to feel like a very naughty girl....well a naughty girl with some naughty friends instead!! Big love Clare xxx

No probs. I was feeling a little on my own before starting this thread or indeed questioning if my friends and I have a problem lol.

I don't like sweet either. Vile!!!!!

I love this thread. It's given me comfort in a lush way. Cake? What cake? It's all about controlling the booze and social life for me.

Tut tut tut tut *shakes head* I don't know how you can all waste your syns drinking booze on such a regular basis.

As you can probably see from my avatar, I never touch the stuff...................during the week, but boy to I make up for it on Saturay night :giggle:

I can honestly say, I use at least half of my syn allowance on booze and it will stay that way :D

I don't need many syns during the week as I have decent, filling meals and don't feel the need to snack or eat choccy. Plus any long term eating plan needs to fit my lifestyle in order for it to be sustainable. So I shall continue to be a weekend wino :D lol

I will say though, I do limit my drinking to one night per week, but I don't count drinks, I count bottles :giggle:

Nice one corkscrew!

I'm liking that mantra. It's surprise invites out that catch me unawares and that's where I need to look at being strong.

Where abouts in West Yorks are you? I'm originally from Huddersfield.

I haven't had any surprise invites since I started SW.......I'll deal with them if/when they arise :D I do like the word 'flexisyn' though :giggle:

I'm from a little village, kinda halfway between Doncaster and Wakefield, call Ackworth :)

I was in Lepton the other day. Is that anywhere near where you're from?

Oooh Wine is one of my only pleasures in life! (that and my amazing kids, hubby and all that jazz  )

We don't use the word lush here in Ireland. Therefore, I is not one. :ashamed0005: *hic*
