Just wanted to say that for anyone who wants to do more exercise, setting yourself a goal to get yourself out running can be really achievable.
I lost about 2 stone last year with SW online. It started to plateau and I was struggling to stay focused and half a stone crept back on, so I decided it was time to get more active.
Now at the start I wasn't totally inactive. I have a dog that needs walking and a stable that needs mucking out, but running wasn't anything I took pleasure from at all. In fact I hated it.
Anyway, in December I got myself a personal trainer. I'm rubbish at motivating myself so a pt works for me, but with my pt I was mostly doing circuits/ weights and strength based training. To make this more effective for fitness and weight loss I really needed to get in some cardio. I decided that if I entered a 5k for a couple of months ahead I would be forced to train for it, so that's exactly what I did
I combined using a treadmill with actually getting outside and running. I started with the treadmill doing a bit of running, then walking, then running again and built it up.
Anyway, yesterday I completed my first 5k. I ran all the way, I didn't finish last (although I was completely prepared to) and I did it in 35 minutes. ....and it wasn't awful. I quite enjoyed it and I'm planning on entering more.
Until a couple of months ago I hadn't done any running for at least 15 years and I definitely believe that 5k is achievable for anyone who puts their mind to it.
There is also a lady in my SW group who, a few years ago could not even walk her dog without being out of breath. She started walking and then power walking and finally running. Now, 6 stone lighter she is about to take on the London marathon.
So, go out there today. Walk a bit, run a bit, walk again.... whatever you can do. Do a bit more tomorrow. Challenge yourself and you never know where it might take you ☺☺☺☺☺
